Why Isn't My Business Showing Up in ChatGPT or AI Answers?

If your business is not showing up in AI answers, it usually comes down to a few fixable gaps: AI crawlers are blocked, there is no answer-first summary, no question headings, no schema, weak author signals, or too few trusted mentions elsewhere. Fix those and you give AI engines something clear to understand and quote.

The short version: If AI does not mention your business, it is almost always one of three reasons: the engines cannot read your site cleanly, your content does not answer the questions buyers ask, or, most often, you are not named on the sources the AI trusts for your topic. The good news is that all three are fixable, and you can find out which is holding you back free with my AI visibility tool.

It is not personal, it is the norm

First, take a breath. Almost every business starts here. Being named by AI is earned, not automatic, and most companies have not done the work yet because they do not know it exists. That is the opportunity, not a verdict on you.

The three reasons, and how to tell which is yours

Reason 1: The AI cannot read you well

If your robots.txt blocks the AI crawlers, or your site has no structured data and no clear answers, the engines struggle to understand and quote you. This is the easiest to fix.

Reason 2: Your content does not match the questions

AI maps questions to answers. If your pages do not plainly answer the questions your buyers ask, there is nothing for the engine to lift. Vague, padded pages get skipped.

Reason 3: You are not on the sources AI trusts

This is the most common reason, and the biggest one. For any topic, the engines lean on a specific set of sources. If your competitors are on those sources and you are not, the AI names them. Not because they are better, but because their name sits where the AI looks.

How to find out which is yours

Run your name and topics through an AI visibility checker. It shows you whether the engines name you, who they name instead, and the exact sites they pull from. That tells you immediately whether your problem is technical, content, or sources, and where to get featured.

The fix

Work the three in order: make your site readable, publish content the engines can quote, and earn mentions on the trusted sources. The third is the heavy lifting, and it is the part I have done for businesses for twenty-one years, getting them into the press and now into AI.

The honest part

It is a real amount of work across a few fronts, and it does not stop, because the answers keep moving. If you would rather hand it over, that is what I do. Either way, the first step costs nothing.
