As of October 2026, Trello Free costs $0 for up to 10 collaborators per Workspace. Standard is $5 per user a month billed annually or $6 billed monthly, Premium is $10 per user a month billed annually or $12.50 billed monthly, and Enterprise is $17.50 per user a month billed annually.
Trello's the simplest of the big project tools, and its pricing follows suit. Most small businesses can stay on the free plan for a long time. The question is which limit you'll hit first, because that tells you which paid plan to buy.
Trello plans and prices
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Key limit or feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Up to 10 collaborators and 10 boards per Workspace |
| Standard | $5 per user a month | $6 per user a month | Unlimited boards and AI features |
| Premium | $10 per user a month | $12.50 per user a month | Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map views |
| Enterprise | $17.50 per user a month | Annual only on the page | Atlassian Guard Standard and 24/7 admin support |
Trello shows the Enterprise price as an annual price of $210.00 per user, and its page includes a calculator to estimate the cost for your number of users. The monthly prices for Standard and Premium are the ones to use if you're testing Trello with a new team, because you can drop back to Free without being tied into a year.
Trello Free: what you get and where it stops
- Unlimited cards and unlimited Power-Ups per board.
- Up to 10 boards per Workspace.
- Up to 10 collaborators per Workspace.
- Unlimited storage, with a 10MB limit per file.
- 250 Workspace command runs a month for automation.
- Assignees, due dates, mobile apps and two-factor authentication.
For a solo business owner, the 10-board cap is usually the first wall. If you run a board per client, the eleventh client is the moment you'll need Standard. You can archive finished boards to stay under the limit for a while, but if you refer back to old client work often, that gets fiddly.
The 10MB file limit is the other one to watch. Design files, long PDFs and videos often go over it, so if you attach those to cards rather than linking to them, you'll hit the wall sooner than you expect.
Standard and Premium compared
Standard is the everyday upgrade. It adds AI features, unlimited boards, the Planner, advanced checklists, card mirroring, custom fields, list colours, collapsible lists, a 250MB file limit, 1,000 command runs a month, single board guests and saved searches.
Premium adds AI across your boards plus the views that turn Trello into a planning tool: Calendar, Timeline, Table, Dashboard and Map. It also adds Workspace views, unlimited command runs, admin and security features, Workspace templates, collections, observers and simple data export.
| Feature | Free | Standard | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boards per Workspace | 10 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| File size limit | 10MB | 250MB | 250MB |
| Command runs a month | 250 | 1,000 | Unlimited |
| Custom fields | No | Yes | Yes |
| Timeline and Dashboard views | No | No | Yes |
Enterprise and Atlassian Guard
Trello is an Atlassian product, and Enterprise includes Atlassian Guard Standard for single sign-on and enforced two-factor authentication, plus unlimited Workspaces and Power-Up administration. On the other plans, Trello says SAML single sign-on through Atlassian Guard is available as a separate subscription that starts at $4 a month per user.
Choosing a Trello plan
- Count your boards and your collaborators.
- Under 10 of each and small files: stay on Free.
- More boards, bigger files or custom fields: Standard.
- You need timelines, dashboards or calendars across projects: Premium.
- Pay annually if you'll use it all year, as both paid plans cost less that way.

Power-Ups and automation on the free plan
Trello's free plan is more capable than it looks because you get unlimited Power-Ups on every board. Those are the add-ons that connect Trello to calendars, forms and other tools. What you don't get is much automation: 250 command runs a month across the Workspace. If you've built rules that move cards or post updates automatically, you'll burn through that fast, and that's often the real reason teams move to Standard rather than the board limit.
It's worth checking your command run count in the Workspace settings after your first busy month. That number tells you more about which plan you need than any feature list.
Who Trello suits best
Trello works best for visual, card-based work: content calendars, client onboarding checklists, simple sales pipelines and hiring boards. Teams that need resource planning or detailed reporting usually outgrow it and move to a heavier tool. If that's you, Premium's Dashboard and Timeline views can delay the move, but they won't replace a full project management platform.

My verdict
Trello Free is still one of the most usable free plans for a small business, and many owners never need to upgrade. When you do, Standard at $5 per user a month billed annually is a small step that removes the board limit and adds custom fields. Only pay for Premium if you'll use the Timeline, Calendar or Dashboard views every week, because that's where most of its value sits.
