Trello has four calendar options: the Calendar Power-Up for a single board, Calendar view for one board on Premium and Enterprise, the Workspace Calendar for up to 20 boards on Premium and Enterprise, and Planner for scheduling your own focus time. As of October 2026, Atlassian says Calendar view and the Workspace Calendar aren't available on free Workspaces.
Here's what trips people up. The newer Calendar view shows start dates, end dates and checklist items, but only a card's due date can be synced to an external calendar like Google Calendar; start date and duration stay inside Trello. And when you do sync, changes don't show up straight away, since it may take up to 24 hours for Google Calendar to catch up.
Which Trello calendar does what
| Option | What it shows | Who can use it, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Calendar Power-Up | A board's cards with due dates, in week or month mode, plus an iCalendar feed for other apps | Boards with the Power-Up enabled |
| Calendar view | Dates from cards and checklist items on one board, including start and end dates | Premium and Enterprise Workspaces |
| Workspace Calendar view | Start and due dates from cards across up to 20 boards in one Workspace | Premium and Enterprise Workspaces |
| Planner | Your day or week next to your board, with connected Google or Outlook calendars | Smart Schedule suggestions need Standard, Premium or Enterprise |
Atlassian sums up the difference neatly: Planner is a focused view of your day or week for blocking off time to work on particular cards, while the calendar views give you a broader look at deadlines across boards or a Workspace. For what each plan costs, see my breakdown of Trello's Free, Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans.
The Calendar Power-Up on a single board
With the Calendar Power-Up enabled, you click the Calendar link at the top right of the board to see cards with due dates on a calendar. You can switch between week and month, drag a card to another day to change its due date, and expand a day for a roomier look at its cards.
The Power-Up can also publish an iCalendar feed. Open the board menu, click Power-Ups, click the gear in the Calendar section and choose Enable sync, then copy your personal iCalendar feed URL into another calendar app. Trello generates a separate feed for each board member, so if someone's removed from the board, their access to its calendar can be switched off too. If you don't see the option, a board admin has to enable the iCalendar feed in the Power-Up settings.
Calendar view and start dates on Premium
Calendar view lets Premium and Enterprise customers see the dates from cards and checklist items on a single board. You open it from the views dropdown next to the board within a Premium or Enterprise Workspace. You can drag and drop cards to change their due dates, create and edit cards right there, and switch between one week and one month.
Start and end dates make cards stretch across several days; add them while editing a card's due date, or drag the edge of a card in the calendar. Atlassian's FAQ adds a few limits as of October 2026. You can't set a date as a full-day event, though you can set start and end times to mimic one. Custom date fields don't appear on the calendar. And there are no current plans for the calendar views on free Workspaces.
Seeing several boards on one Workspace Calendar
The Workspace Calendar shows start and due dates from cards on multiple boards in the same Workspace, which is handy for checking workloads across a team. Open the board switcher with the b keyboard shortcut, select your Workspace, then Workspace Views, and pick the calendar. Use the Filter menu to choose which boards appear, and filter cards by keywords, members, due dates, lists and labels.
A maximum of 20 boards can be selected at a time. Only cards with due dates appear, so for checklist item due dates you'll need the board's own Calendar view. People outside your Workspace can't see the Workspace Calendar, and members only see cards and boards they're allowed to access. You can't block a member from it directly, other than removing them from the Workspace or from a board.
Syncing Trello due dates to Google Calendar
- Open a board and toggle the Calendar View.
- Select Sync to personal calendar. If you see URL disabled, select More actions, then Enable.
- Select Copy to copy the board's calendar link.
- In Google Calendar, select Add other calendars in the left sidebar, then From URL.
- Paste the link into the From URL field and select Add calendar.
Two things to know before you do this. Anyone you share the board's calendar link with can see its calendar items, so treat it like a key. And if you disable the link later, the events stay in Google Calendar, but future changes stop syncing and the URL's no longer publicly accessible. To see several boards in Google Calendar, turn on sync for each board and add each link.

Planner for blocking out focus time
Planner sits next to your board so you can find time for your to-dos. You can connect up to 10 Google or Microsoft Outlook accounts. Cards with due dates show up automatically if they're on a personal board or assigned to you on a shared board. Drag a card into a time slot to schedule focus time, which then appears in your connected calendar; it doesn't change the card's due date. Smart Schedule can suggest focus time with AI on the web or desktop, but it isn't available on mobile.
Which Trello calendar I'd pick
I'd use the Calendar Power-Up if you're on a free Workspace and only need due dates on one board, plus a feed into your own calendar. I'd move to Premium for Calendar view and the Workspace Calendar if you manage several boards and need start dates, checklist dates or a team-wide view of deadlines. And I'd skip the Google Calendar link for anything time-critical, because that 24 hour lag can catch you out. If you're new to boards, lists and cards, here's my beginner's guide to Trello.
A calendar shows what's due, but the chasing, reminders and status updates around it are often the bits worth automating. I run AI training and workshops for teams, and help businesses with AI enablement and workflow automation, so the busywork runs itself and people get time back. Most of that work is with SaaS marketing teams and small businesses. Here's how we can work together.
