A good Surfe alternative moves contacts and conversations into your CRM without copy and paste, adds missing contact details and keeps records tidy. Check which CRMs it supports, how it handles duplicates and how it connects to LinkedIn. This page lists ten options in no particular order, then covers CRM hygiene and the rules that apply.
Surfe's own site describes B2B prospecting, enrichment and CRM sync, with a Chrome extension that lets you prospect wherever you work and an API for AI agents. Its core appeal is saving time: contacts flow into the CRM you already use.
Here are ten Surfe alternatives in no particular order, sorted alphabetically. Some are CRM-sync extensions, some are contact data tools and some are lightweight CRMs with LinkedIn built in. Each description comes from the tool's own website, re-checked today. If your CRM is new, my piece on how a CRM helps any business is a good primer.

Why CRM sync matters more than it sounds
Copying contacts by hand is slow and error-prone. Notes get lost, duplicates appear and nobody knows who spoke to whom. A good sync tool adds the person, their company and your conversation to the right record, and it does it the same way every time.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Supported CRMs. Check yours is supported on the plan you'd choose.
- Duplicate handling. Does it match existing records or create new ones?
- Field mapping. Can you choose which details land in which fields?
- Conversation logging. Are messages saved to the record?
- Team use. Can colleagues see who owns a contact?
Surfe alternatives and LinkedIn's terms
Before you pick any tool in this category, read what LinkedIn says. Its help page on prohibited software states that it doesn't permit third-party software, including crawlers, bots, browser plug-ins or browser extensions, that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on its website. Accounts that break the rules can be restricted. That doesn't make every tool here off-limits, but it does mean you should ask each vendor how it works, keep activity at a human pace and decide how much risk you're comfortable with on your main profile.
Data rules for contacts you sync
The other rule people miss is about who you email afterwards. The UK regulator, the ICO, says in its guide to PECR that you can send marketing emails to companies, but sole traders and some partnerships are treated as individuals, so you can only email them with consent or under the soft opt-in for previous customers. Data protection law still applies to the personal details you store. This isn't legal advice; in the US, CAN-SPAM sets different rules, so check what applies to you.
Keeping your CRM clean after the switch
- Run a duplicate check before you connect a new tool.
- Agree which fields are required for every contact.
- Tag contacts by source so you know where they came from.
- Review new records weekly for a month.
- Delete records for anyone who asks.
Which Surfe alternative suits which team
- HubSpot users may want a dedicated sync extension.
- Teams without a CRM could start with a simple contact CRM.
- Prospecting-heavy teams want contact data and sync together.
- Solo sellers often do well with a free edition.
Choosing between a sync extension and a lightweight CRM
If your company already lives in a big CRM, a sync extension keeps everyone in the same system. If you're a small team without one, a lightweight CRM with LinkedIn and email built in may be simpler than adding two tools. Think about where your team spends the day and pick the option that adds the fewest clicks.
Whichever you choose, keep your pipeline visible. My piece on the importance of a sales pipeline explains why a clear view of deals matters more than the tool you use to build it.
Do you make a CRM sync, prospecting or contact data tool? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on replacing Surfe
Start from your CRM, not the extension. List what you need to land in it and how, then pick the tool that writes cleanest records. Test with twenty contacts and inspect every field before you roll it out to the team.
Frequently asked questions
What does Surfe do?
Its own site describes B2B prospecting, enrichment and CRM sync through a Chrome extension, plus an API.
Do I need a CRM sync tool?
If you add contacts from LinkedIn or email regularly, it saves time and reduces mistakes. Occasional users may manage by hand.
Will sync tools create duplicates?
Some do if matching isn't set up well. Check how a tool matches existing records before connecting it.
Is syncing LinkedIn contacts allowed?
LinkedIn says it doesn't permit extensions that scrape, modify or automate activity on its site. Read its terms and each tool's approach.
Can I email contacts I've synced?
Check the rules. The ICO says sole traders need consent or the soft opt-in for marketing emails in the UK. This isn't legal advice.
Which CRMs do these tools support?
It varies. HubSpot, Pipedrive and Salesforce are common, but check your exact CRM and plan.
Can a sync tool update existing CRM records?
Many can match and update records rather than creating new ones. Test with a few known contacts to see how it behaves.
