As of October 2026, a Ring subscription costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year for Ring Solo (one device), $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year for Ring Multi (every device at one home), and $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year for Ring Pro. Virtual Security Guard, Ring's top plan, is $99 a month.
Those are Ring's own US prices, plus applicable tax, taken from the Ring Protect Plans page. Here's what each one gets you and where the extra charges sit.
Ring Protect plan prices
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring Solo | $4.99 | $49.99 | One doorbell or camera |
| Ring Multi | $9.99 | $99.99 | All home devices at one location |
| Ring Pro | $19.99 | $199.99 | All devices at one location, plus 24/7 professional monitoring and intelligent features |
| Virtual Security Guard | $99 | Not listed | Everything in Pro plus live video monitoring by agents |
On Solo, Multi and Pro, the yearly price is roughly ten months of the monthly price, so paying yearly saves you close to two months. Ring says plans auto renew until cancelled, and each plan covers one device or one location.
What you get on each plan
Ring Solo and Ring Multi share the core features: up to 180 days of video event history, person, package and vehicle alerts, extended live view, device modes and doorbell calls. The difference is coverage. Solo covers a single doorbell or camera; Multi covers every device at your home and adds extended warranties on eligible devices.
Ring Pro is where the plan stops being only about recordings. It includes everything in Multi, then adds 24/7 professional monitoring, which requests emergency help when your Ring system is triggered, plus Ring's intelligent features: video descriptions, familiar faces, active warnings, unusual event alerts and video search.
Virtual Security Guard is a different product at $99 a month. Ring describes it as live video monitoring by trained agents, with real time intruder deterrence and dispatch requests when they see an emergency.
The add-ons that change the real cost
| Add-on | Price | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Pro Intelligence (one camera) | +$5 a month per camera | A Ring Solo or Ring Multi plan; included in Pro |
| Smoke and CO monitoring | +$5 a month | No Ring Protect plan required; included in Pro |
| 24/7 continuous recording | +$3 a month per camera | Any Ring Protect plan |
| Continuous recording on Ring Elite cameras | $6 to $18 a month by model | Elite 140 $6, Elite 180 $9, Elite 270 $15, Elite 360 $18 |
| Extra LTE data | $1 per 1GB a month | Beyond the 3GB included on Mobile Security Towers and Alarm Pro backup internet |
This is the part that's easy to miss. A Multi plan with continuous recording on three cameras isn't $9.99 a month; it's $9.99 plus $3 for each camera. If you want Ring's smart features on one camera without moving to Pro, that's another $5 a month.
Do you need a Ring subscription at all?
No. Ring says its products provide certain features without a plan, and it recommends a plan to get video recording and the advanced features. The plan is what gives you the 180 day event history, smart alerts and, on Pro, professional monitoring. If you want to look back at who called while you were out, that's the feature you're paying for.
Every new device also starts a free 30 day trial of Ring Protect as soon as you set it up, unless your location already has a plan. That's a good window to see whether you use the recordings enough to pay for them.
Trouble subscribing?
Ring says you need to set up a device at your location before you can buy a plan. If you're a shared user rather than the person who set the device up, the device owner has to log in on Ring.com and subscribe.
Installation costs
If you'd rather not fit devices yourself, Ring lists professional installation starting at $129.99 per device, billed separately, and some installation options starting at $499 per device. You book after checkout and pay when you schedule, so it isn't bundled into your monthly plan.

Which Ring plan should you choose?
- One doorbell and nothing else: Ring Solo at $49.99 a year is the cheapest way to keep recordings.
- Two devices: two Solo plans at $49.99 cost about the same as one Multi plan, so pick Multi if you might add a third.
- Three or more devices at one home: Ring Multi at $99.99 a year costs less than three Solo plans.
- You've got Ring Alarm and want someone to call for help: Ring Pro at $199.99 a year includes professional monitoring.
- A home that wants live agents watching: Virtual Security Guard at $99 a month.
If Ring's smart assistant features matter to you, it's worth looking at how Alexa+ works, because Ring's plan comparison lists Alexa+ greetings on select doorbells. And if you're still choosing a smart home ecosystem, my Alexa vs Google Home comparison will help you pick the one that fits the devices you already own.
The verdict
Ring's subscription is cheap at the Solo level and good value at Multi once you own three or more devices. Pro only makes sense if you've got a Ring Alarm and want professional monitoring. My advice: use the 30 day trial, check how often you go back to recorded clips, then pay yearly rather than monthly, because the annual price saves you close to two months.
