Pick Lovable if you want to build an app by chatting and like a meter you can predict per message: it charges in credits, gives you 5 free build credits a day, and Plan Mode costs 1 credit a message, as of October 2026. Pick v0 if you already work with Vercel and GitHub and you'd rather pay by model usage: its credit is spent at each model's token rate, and Business is $100 per user a month with $30 of included credit.
Lovable and v0 both turn a chat into a working app, but they meter you in different units, and that changes what a busy month looks like. I went through Lovable's pricing page and v0's pricing page, as of October 2026, and here's how each meter works.
Lovable and v0 compared
| Lovable | v0 | |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits a month | 7 messages a day |
| How usage is metered | Credits per message (Plan Mode 1 credit) | Dollar credit spent at each model's token rate |
| Credit rules | Monthly plan credits 2 months; top-ups 12 months; daily grants end of day | Business: $30 included monthly credit per user plus $2 daily credit on login |
| Deploying | Cloud credits for hosting | Deploy apps to Vercel |
| Editing and code | Chat in Plan Mode or Default Mode | Design Mode visual editing and GitHub sync |
How Lovable credits work
On the free plan Lovable gives you a daily grant of 5 build credits, up to 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits a month and 4 credits for AI features inside the app you build. Paid plans add their own plan credits each month on top of the daily 5 build credits and the 20 Cloud credits, though some regional plans cap the daily credits at 30 a month.
What a message costs depends on the mode. Plan Mode is a flat 1 credit per message. In Default Mode the cost varies with the task, and Lovable gives examples: making a button grey is 0.50 credits, removing the footer is 0.90, adding sign up and login is 1.20, and building a landing page with images is 1.70.
Then there's expiry. Unused monthly plan credits expire two months after they're issued. Annual plan credits expire one month after the annual period ends. Top-up credits last twelve months, and the daily grants expire at the end of each day. Credits aren't refundable, and if you cancel, you can use what's left until the billing period ends, then the plan reverts to Free.
How v0 spends your credit
v0's free plan costs nothing and gives you 7 messages a day, with deploys to Vercel, Design Mode for visual editing and GitHub sync. Business is $100 per user a month and includes $30 of monthly credit per user, plus $2 of free daily credit when you log in. It opts you out of model training by default, puts billing in one place, and lets the team buy extra credit that everyone shares. Enterprise is a custom plan that adds SAML single sign-on, role-based access, priority access, support agreements and a promise that your data is never used for training.
Your credit is spent at the rate of the model you use. These are v0's listed rates per million tokens, excluding VAT, GST and other taxes:
| v0 model | Input | Output |
|---|---|---|
| v0 Mini | $0.20 | $1.20 |
| v0 Pro | $2 | $10 |
| v0 Max | $5 | $25 |
| v0 Max Fast | $10 | $50 |
Credits that expire vs credit by the token
Here's the part people miss. On Lovable a quiet month can waste credits, because monthly plan credits only last two months. On v0 a heavy week draws your credit down faster, and how fast depends on the model: v0 Max Fast output is $50 per million tokens against $1.20 on v0 Mini. And on Lovable, Plan Mode lets you think a project through at a flat 1 credit a message before you spend Default Mode credits building it.
Which one suits what you're building
- You like to plan a project in conversation before building: Lovable, where Plan Mode is 1 credit a message.
- You tinker a little most days: Lovable's 5 daily build credits or v0's 7 messages a day both cover small sessions free.
- Your code lives on GitHub and you deploy on Vercel: v0, which syncs with GitHub and deploys to Vercel.
- A team that wants one bill and no model training on its work: v0 Business.
- You build in bursts: watch Lovable's two month expiry on monthly credits, or pick the v0 model to match the job.

My advice on Lovable or v0
If you're a business owner building your first app, I'd start on Lovable's free daily credits and do your thinking in Plan Mode at 1 credit a message, so the build credits go on building. If you're already deploying on Vercel or working from GitHub, v0 fits the way you work, and its Business plan makes sense once a team shares the bill. Whichever you pick, use the free tier for a week first so you can see how quickly your own prompts use up the meter.
