A keyword density checker counts how often each word and two-word phrase appears in your text and shows it as a percentage of all words, so you can see whether a page reads naturally or leans on one term. Paste the text below. There is no magic percentage; the tool exists to catch pages that repeat a phrase so often it reads like it was written for a robot.
What keyword density means in 2026
Nothing precise. Google has said for years that there is no target percentage, and pages rank for phrases they never repeat. What density still catches is the opposite problem: a page that says the same phrase every second sentence reads badly, gets skimmed, and looks like it was written to a formula. If your main keyword is above about 3 percent of all words, read the page aloud and see if a person would say it that way.
How to use the result
Look at the two-word phrases. If the top phrase is the topic of the page, good. If it is something incidental, such as a product name you kept repeating, that is what the page is really about to a reader. Then check that the words a searcher would use appear at least once in a heading and once in the first hundred words. That is the whole method.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good keyword density?
There is no target. Under about 3 percent for the main phrase reads naturally; higher usually means the page is repeating itself. Ranking depends on relevance and authority, not the percentage.
Does the checker count stop words?
No. Words like the, and, of and to are excluded from the lists so the result shows the terms that carry meaning.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
Should I add my keyword more times to rank?
Only where it reads naturally. Put it in the title, one heading and the first paragraph, then write for the reader.
Why does the two-word phrase percentage look higher?
Because a two-word phrase uses two of the total words, the percentage counts both, which is the convention most density tools use.
