Yes, Field Agent is a real gig app from a company that has since rebranded as Storesight. Its App Store listing says agents do in-store jobs such as audits and mystery shopping, with Location Jobs generally paying between 3 and 20 dollars. The catch is that jobs are first come, first served, and denied work isn't paid.
Field Agent is a slightly unusual one on my list because you do the work with your feet, not your keyboard. You walk into a shop, do a small task and get paid if it's approved. People ask me whether it's real, and whether the payouts justify the petrol. Here's what the company's own pages say.
The company behind Field Agent, now called Storesight
A report in Talk Business & Politics says Field Agent, based in Fayetteville, has rebranded the company name to Storesight after buying a business called Shelfgram in 2024. The same article quotes a company spokesperson saying the Field Agent app used by the shopper network will remain unchanged. It also puts the company at 15 years old, with 3 million shoppers who provide data from stores.
The App Store listing still names Field Agent Inc. as the seller, so the name hasn't vanished from the app. If you land on the Storesight website, it's a business-to-business site aimed at consumer goods firms, not at agents, so don't be surprised when it doesn't explain how to get paid.
What Field Agent jobs look like
According to the App Store listing, the app sends agents all over the United States to gather information, take photos and share their opinions. The jobs it names include audits, research, mystery shopping and product trials.
You pick a job near you, do the task in store, upload what's asked for, and wait for approval. The listing says jobs are usually first come, first served, so the good ones near you can disappear quickly.
What a Field Agent job pays
The listing says Location Jobs generally pay between 3 and 20 dollars. That's a wide range, and it's a range for one job, not an hourly rate. A 3 dollar job that takes ten minutes in a shop you're passing anyway can be fine. A 3 dollar job that needs a special trip isn't.
There's also a second type of work. The listing says completing ticket jobs qualifies agents for paying jobs and enters them in a drawing for a cash prize. In other words, some of the work is a stepping stone, not direct pay.
I haven't seen Field Agent publish an average monthly income, and I'd ignore anyone quoting one.
Cashing out of Field Agent
Field Agent's help centre says you need 3 dollars in your account before you can cash out. You link a bank account in one of two ways: sync it through Plaid, which it describes as instant authentication, or enter the details manually. Prepaid cards are also accepted.
The manual route takes longer. The help article says it uses two micro-deposits of less than 25 cents, which can take 1 to 3 business days to arrive, and that you then verify the exact amounts. The whole process may take 2-3 business days, excluding weekends and holidays.

One easy mistake: adding or verifying an account doesn't start a transfer. You still have to tap the green Cash Out button. The article says you can link up to 5 cash-out accounts and mentions no fees. There are separate help articles on cashing out using PayPal, and on direct deposit with PayPal or Cash App, so check those if you'd prefer one of them.

What to watch for with Field Agent
- Travel costs. A small payment can be wiped out by fuel, parking or bus fares. Stick to jobs on routes you already take.
- Denied jobs aren't paid. The listing says denied submissions don't earn anything, so follow each job's instructions exactly.
- Competition for jobs. First come, first served means availability depends on where you live.
- Tax paperwork. The help section includes a W9 verification task and an article on how to classify your work as an agent, so expect some tax admin. I couldn't read those answers, so ask an accountant how it applies to you.
- Staying safe in store. Only do jobs in public areas, follow shop rules and don't photograph people.
For the tax side of small gigs, my piece on side hustle tax is a good place to begin.
Spotting fake Field Agent offers
Any message saying you've been picked as a mystery shopper and need to deposit a cheque, buy gift cards or pay a registration fee is not how this app works. According to its listing, you get jobs inside the app and are paid for approved work. Download the app from the official store listing, and ignore texts or emails that chase you for money.
Is Field Agent worth doing
It's real and it can suit someone who likes short, practical tasks and passes shops anyway. It's a poor choice if you're counting on it for rent. If that's you, compare it with the options in my list of paid survey sites in the UK and my honest guide to fast ways to make money online without scams.
