To delete your BeReal account, open your profile, tap the settings icon in the top-right corner, choose Other, tap Delete Account and confirm. BeReal's Help Centre says you're logged out straight away and the account is permanently deleted 15 days later. Logging back in during those 15 days cancels the deletion.
BeReal was meant to be the relaxed social app, but plenty of people reach a point where the daily notification feels like one more thing to deal with. Maybe you've moved on, maybe you want fewer apps on your phone, or maybe you run a small business and have decided it isn't the place for your brand. Whatever the reason, the exit is straightforward once you know where it hides.
I've followed BeReal's own Help Centre article on deleting your account, so the steps below match what the company says, and I've flagged where menus may look a little different on your phone.
Deleting your BeReal account from the app
BeReal's Help Centre lists the in-app route like this. Do it on the phone where you're signed in:
- Open BeReal and go to your profile.
- Tap the settings page icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Other.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm your choice.
If a label looks different on your version of the app, look for the same wording in settings, because menus vary by app version. The route runs through your profile, then settings, then the Other section.
What happens right after you delete your BeReal account
This surprises people, so read it before you tap confirm. According to BeReal's Help Centre, you're immediately logged out and taken to the start of the sign-up process. You don't need to do anything more. The account isn't gone at that moment: it's scheduled for deletion and will be permanently deleted in 15 days.
In other words, there's a cooling-off window. You can think of those 15 days as a safety net, and nothing else is required from you while the clock runs down.
Changing your mind about deleting BeReal
The Help Centre says you can cancel the deletion process by logging in to BeReal during that time. So if you delete in a hurry, or someone deletes your account as a joke, you have 15 days to reverse it by signing back in.
The flip side matters just as much. If you want the account to go, don't log in again before the 15 days are up. Opening the app out of habit during the window can cancel what you started. Move the app off your home screen, or uninstall it, so you aren't tempted.
Deleting your BeReal account when you can't open the app
Sometimes you can't use the app: you've lost the phone, changed number or can't get past the sign-in screen. BeReal's Help Centre offers a second route, a dedicated webform. You submit a deletion request, and once the team processes it you receive a confirmation email. The account is then permanently deleted 15 days later.
Use the form on BeReal's own Help Centre, and nowhere else. Ignore websites or messages offering to delete or recover a BeReal account for you, and never share your phone verification code with anyone. If you're unsure, go to the Help Centre from the app's settings or by typing the address yourself.
Deleting a single BeReal post or Memory instead
Maybe you don't want to lose everything, just one embarrassing photo. BeReal has separate help articles for deleting a BeReal and deleting a Memory. As I read the Memory article, removing something from your Memories doesn't remove the original post, so they're two different places. If you want one photo gone, read those two articles before you decide that deleting the whole account is necessary.

- Deleting your account removes the whole profile, on the schedule above.
- Deleting a Memory is a smaller step and, per the help article, doesn't remove the original post.
- Deleting a post is a different action again, covered in its own help article.
Before you delete your BeReal account
A few sensible jobs, because you can't undo the end of the 15 days:
- Save any photos you want to keep, using the save options the app gives you or a screenshot.
- Tell close friends you're leaving, so they can reach you another way.
- Check whether you used BeReal to sign in anywhere else, and move those logins first.
- Decide whether you really want to delete, or only need a break from notifications.
- Delete the account, then keep the app closed for the full 15 days.
If you manage a brand or run a side hustle, it's also worth checking whether you shared the account with a team member. Tell them before you press the button.
If BeReal won't let you delete your account
If you can't find Delete Account, or something goes wrong, work through this list in order:
- Update BeReal to the latest version and look again in settings under Other.
- Make sure you're signed into the right account on your phone.
- Use the dedicated webform from the Help Centre if the app route fails.
- Contact BeReal through its Help Centre and explain what you see on screen.
Deleting other social accounts the same way
If you're having a general clear-out, the pattern is similar on most apps: settings, an account section, a delete option and often a waiting period. I've written step-by-step guides for deleting a Snapchat account and deleting a Discord account. And if you only want a break from Instagram, see how to deactivate an Instagram account on your phone and computer.
