How Much Does Taskrabbit Take From Taskers? (2026)

Taskrabbit doesn't take a cut of a Tasker's hourly rate. Taskers pay a one time, non-refundable 25 US dollar registration fee, and after that Taskrabbit says all fees are charged to clients, who pay a service fee on top of the Tasker's rate. Taskrabbit says Self-Set Hourly Taskers keep 100% of their rate and tips.

Taskrabbit flips the usual gig-app model. Most apps take a slice of what you earn; Taskrabbit charges the client on top instead. That makes the question of how much Taskrabbit takes easy to answer for Taskers, but there's still a fee to join and a few pay structures worth understanding. I've worked from Taskrabbit's own support centre and blog.

What Taskrabbit takes from Taskers

For a Tasker, there's one fee you pay yourself. Taskrabbit's support centre says that once your registration is successfully processed, you're charged a one time, non-refundable 25 US dollar registration fee. If you don't already have a card on file, you'll be asked to add one during sign-up.

Two things to note before you pay it. Taskrabbit says paying the fee doesn't guarantee you'll become a Tasker, and it's non-refundable. So check that Taskrabbit runs in your city and that you meet the requirements first.

After registration, Taskrabbit says that all fees are charged to clients, not Taskers. That's the core of the answer: Taskrabbit's money comes from the client side.

The Taskrabbit service fee clients pay

Every client pays a Taskrabbit Service Fee in addition to the Tasker's rate. Taskrabbit says this fee is calculated as a percentage of the hourly rate for the task, and it's charged on each hour of labour. Reimbursements for expenses are excluded from it, and Taskers receive 100% of all reimbursements.

Some invoices used to carry a separate Trust and Support fee as well. Taskrabbit says invoices in California and Massachusetts no longer show one and display only a Service Fee, and that the Trust and Support fee doesn't affect what a Tasker is paid. Either way, these charges sit on the client's bill, not yours.

Why it matters to you: clients see your rate plus the fee. When you're setting your rate, remember that the total they pay will be higher than the number on your profile.

How Taskrabbit pay structures work

Taskrabbit's pricing guide describes three ways a task can be priced, and they change what you take home:

  • Self-Set Hourly. You choose your own hourly rate for each category, and Taskrabbit says you'll always get 100% of the hourly rate you set.
  • Task-Based. A fixed payment per task rather than an hourly rate. Taskrabbit says the benefit is earning the full amount even if you finish faster.
  • Pre-Set Hourly. A pre-set hourly rate that applies to direct hire jobs, when a client picks you directly.

Task-Based pricing rewards speed and experience, while Self-Set Hourly gives you control over the number. If you're quick at a particular job, a fixed task price can pay better per hour than your own rate would.

Tips on Taskrabbit

Clients can add a tip after any type of task. Taskrabbit says tips are paid out alongside your task payment, and Self-Set Hourly Taskers receive 100% of any tips from clients.

Taskrabbit Tasker requirements

Taskrabbit's support centre lists what you need before you can take tasks:

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Provide personal information for a background and ID check.
  • Have a U.S. Social Security Number, which the background check needs.
  • Use the Tasker app on iOS or Android.
  • Have a checking account with a financial institution. Taskrabbit says savings accounts, prepaid debit cards and reloadable cards aren't accepted.
  • Be able to work in one of Taskrabbit's active cities in the US.

Setting a Taskrabbit rate with fees in mind

Because the client's bill is your rate plus Taskrabbit's fee, pricing on Taskrabbit is a little different from quoting a job privately. A few habits help:

  1. Look at what other Taskers in your category and city charge, since clients compare totals side by side.
  2. Remember the client sees your rate plus a fee, so a rate that looks modest to you can look higher to them.
  3. Use Task-Based jobs for work you're quick at, because Taskrabbit says you earn the full amount even if you finish faster.
  4. Log every expense you agree with a client and claim it as a reimbursement, which Taskrabbit passes to you in full.
  5. Review your rates as your reviews grow, because a strong record gives clients a reason to pay more.

When Taskrabbit pays you

Taskrabbit's pricing guide says most payouts arrive within 1-3 business days via Stripe after a task is completed. Because you need a checking account rather than a savings account, set that up before your first job so there's no delay.

What Taskrabbit's fees mean for your earnings

Since Taskrabbit doesn't take a share of your rate, your income comes down to the rate you set, the number of tasks you win and the costs you carry. Tools, materials, travel between jobs and your phone are all yours to cover. You can reclaim agreed expenses through reimbursements, and Taskrabbit passes 100% of those to you. For tax, keep records of everything and ask an accountant how your Taskrabbit income should be reported.
