Google Calendar appointment schedules give you a booking page where people pick a free slot with you, and you create one on a computer under Create, then Appointment schedule. As of October 2026 you can't create one in the Calendar app for Android, iPhone or iPad, and the default minimum lead time is 4 hours, so a page you set up this morning may show no slots for today.
The catch for teams is bigger. When you add co-hosts, their calendars aren't checked for clashes by default, so a shared booking page will happily double-book someone until you tick the box that stops it.
Setting up your booking page
You need a personal Google Account or a Workspace account, and a computer. Then:
- Open Google Calendar on your computer and choose Create, then Appointment schedule.
- Add a title. Anyone with the link can see it, so keep it client-friendly.
- Set the appointment duration. You can pick a custom length.
- Set your general availability and your time zone.
- Open the scheduling window settings and change the defaults covered below.
- Choose where the meeting happens: Google Meet, in person, a phone call, or to be specified later.
- Set up the booking form, and tick Require email verification.
- Save, then share the booking page link.
The defaults worth changing on day one
| Setting | What it does | What I'd check |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum lead time | Defaults to 4 hours before a slot | Shorten it if you take same-day calls |
| Maximum time in advance | How far ahead people can book | Match it to how far ahead you plan |
| Adjusted availability | Changes hours for specific dates | Block holidays before they're booked |
| Buffer time | Gap between appointments | Add one if calls run over |
| Maximum bookings per day | Caps how many slots fill | Set it to protect your focus time |
| Guest permissions | What guests can do with the event | Review before you share the link |
The lead time is the one that confuses people most. If you test your page straight after making it and see nothing for today, that's the 4-hour default at work, not a broken page. Both the lead time and the maximum time in advance sit together in the scheduling window, so you can fix them in one place.
Team booking pages: co-hosts and double bookings
You can add co-hosts by name, by email or as a Google Group. Co-hosts can't add groups or people from outside your domain, and appointments can't be added to resource calendars, so a meeting room can't be the host.
The setting that matters is the availability check. By default, only your own calendar is checked, not your co-hosts'. Tick the option to include co-host calendars and you stop someone being booked into a slot they've already filled.
Meeting on Meet, by phone or in person
You get four location options: Google Meet, in person, a phone call, or to be specified later. That last one is how you use another video tool, because there's no direct option for it. Choose to be specified later, and then add your own conferencing link to the event.
Booking forms, spam and getting paid
The booking form always asks for first name, last name and email, and you can add more fields if you need details before a call. Tick Require email verification and anyone who isn't signed in to Google is sent a code to confirm their email before the booking goes through. It's the simplest way to cut spam bookings.
If you charge for sessions, you can connect a Stripe account and ask for payment when someone books. You can also send up to 5 reminders, though the wording of the reminder emails can't be edited, so don't plan on branding them.
Which accounts get the full feature set
Any personal Google Account or Workspace account can make a basic appointment schedule. Some features need an eligible Workspace or Google One subscription, and Google's Workspace pricing page lists appointment booking pages from Business Standard.
On an eligible Workspace account, Calendar also builds a booking page for you automatically from your weekday availability, with your busy times hidden. If you're wondering what you can do without paying, my guide to whether Google Calendar is free covers the free tier.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Is it good enough to replace a booking tool?
For a solo consultant or a small service business, I'd use it. It's already in your calendar, it handles Meet links and payments through Stripe, and email verification keeps the junk out. I'd look elsewhere if you need branded reminder emails, since you can't edit those, or if you want to book a meeting room as part of the appointment. Either way, change the lead time and tick the co-host check before you share a single link. And if you're newer to Calendar, start with my beginner's guide to Google Calendar.
