Gemini Enterprise: Editions, Quotas and Who It's For

Gemini Enterprise is Google Cloud's AI agent platform for companies: one Gemini assistant that works across your email, documents, data and business apps, plus ready-made and no-code agents. The Business edition starts at $21 per seat per month and suits teams of up to 300 with no IT setup; Standard and Plus add higher quotas, unlimited seats and stricter compliance, as of October 2026.

Google has recently started calling it Gemini for Business on its product page, which is why the names get muddled. It isn't the same thing as the Gemini app you get with Google Workspace. Here's how the editions differ, what the quotas mean in practice, and who should bother.

The editions side by side

EditionWho it's forWhat stands out
BusinessIndividuals, small businesses and teams up to 300No IT setup, Gemini Notebook, Deep Research agent, no-code Workflow Builder, select business connectors; 30-day free trial
StandardOrganisations with stricter security and compliance needsHigher quota, unlimited seats, third-party agents, Gemini Code Assist
PlusAs Standard, with more headroomHigher daily query and storage allowances than Standard; 30-day free trial without sales help
FrontlineFrontline workers such as warehouse and retail staffSold as an add-on for Standard and Plus customers
Pay-as-you-goTeams that don't want seat licencesNo feature quota limits; you pay for what you use

Google only publishes a starting seat price for Business. For Standard and Plus, its pages point you to Google Cloud sales or a 30-day trial.

What the Business edition includes

  • Connectors to common business apps, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, HubSpot, Notion, Slack, Jira and GitHub.
  • Gemini Notebook, which builds source-grounded workspaces from up to 300 internal documents, such as PDFs, Word files, Google Docs and web links.
  • The Deep Research agent, which Google calls an analyst-in-a-box that writes a cited report instead of an instant chat reply.
  • Canvas, a side-by-side workspace for co-editing documents and slides inside the chat.
  • Workflow Builder for custom no-code agents that you describe in plain language.

Admins add or remove team members, control which connectors people can use and manage billing. One detail matters for privacy: invited users can only connect their own data if an admin has allowed that specific connector.

How the quotas work

This is the part sales pages skip. On Standard and Plus, daily allowances are pooled across everyone on the same edition. Google's own example: Standard gives 160 Assistant queries per user per day and 30 GiB of storage, Plus gives 200 queries and 75 GiB. A company with 10 Standard licences shares a pool of 1,600 queries a day, so one heavy user can take 500 and leave 1,100 for everyone else.

Google also caps how much of the pool one person can take: each user can use up to five times their own allowance, which on Standard means up to 800 queries a day. If your team has one or two power users and lots of light users, pooling works in your favour. If everyone's a heavy user, budget for Plus or pay-as-you-go.

Gemini Enterprise vs Gemini in Google Workspace

Google's FAQ draws the line clearly. The Gemini app is included at no additional cost for Google Workspace commercial and public sector customers, and it uses data from Workspace apps like Gmail, Drive and Chat. Gemini Enterprise is built to connect to a much wider set of business systems, run Google-made, custom and third-party agents from one place, and give admins one panel to govern every agent across the company.

So if your team lives in Google Workspace and mostly wants help writing and summarising, the Gemini app you already have may be enough; see Google Workspace pricing for what's included. If your work spans Microsoft 365, a CRM, project tools and code repositories, Gemini Enterprise is the product built for that.

Where developers fit in

There's a separate developer product, Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, which Google describes as the evolution of Vertex AI for technical teams who code, scale and govern complex agents. Agents built there can then appear inside the Gemini Enterprise app for everyone else. Google's product page also says you can set a budget cap per project, and the agent pauses instead of overspending.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

How to try it

  1. Decide which edition fits: Business if you're under 300 people and want no IT setup; Standard or Plus if compliance matters.
  2. Start the 30-day free trial for that edition from Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise pages.
  3. Connect two or three apps your team uses daily, not everything at once.
  4. Give it one repeatable job, like a weekly client report, and build that as a Workflow Builder agent.
  5. Check usage against your quota before the trial ends.

My verdict

For a small business, Gemini Enterprise only makes sense once you've outgrown chatting with AI and want it working across several systems. Start with the Business trial, pick one workflow you repeat every week, and judge it on that. If it doesn't save your team real hours in 30 days, the Gemini already in your Workspace plan is the better deal. For more on the consumer side, see is Gemini free.
