A sticker maker lets you design a sticker from your own artwork, photo, text or an AI prompt, then download it, print it at home or order printed stickers. Some are free design tools, some are AI generators and some are print shops with an online designer built in. Ten options follow in no particular order.
A good sticker does a surprising amount of work. Small businesses hand them out as branding, creators sell them online and families swap them in every group chat.
The ten tools below cover all three jobs. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you only want a quick sticker on your phone, my guide on how to make a sticker on iPhone shows the built-in way first.
Sticker makers side by side
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site says the tool, or a plan or version of it, is free or open source. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

You can't copyright a slogan sticker
The U.S. Copyright Office says copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans or short phrases. In some cases they can be protected as trademarks instead, and logo artwork with enough original authorship can be protected by copyright.
That matters the moment you sell. A witty phrase on a sticker isn't yours to keep, so expect copies once it sells well. It also works the other way: a phrase that another business has registered as a trademark can stop you selling yours, even if you thought of it independently. Search the trademark register before you print a big batch, and put your effort into original artwork, which is the part you can protect.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Design tool, AI generator or print shop?
A design tool gives you templates, fonts and a drag and drop canvas. You download the file and print it yourself or send it to any printer.
An AI generator starts from words or a photo and gives you finished sticker art in seconds. It's quick, but check the result closely before you print hundreds.
A print shop has its own online designer, then prints, cuts and posts the stickers. It's the simplest route when you need a few hundred die-cut stickers that look professional.
A sticker also works as a thank you tucked into a mailing, and our guide to postcard makers compares tools for designing the postcard itself.
Six checks before you print a sticker
- Is your artwork high enough resolution to print sharply?
- Does the cut line leave a clean white border?
- Will the sticker live outdoors and need to be waterproof?
- Is the text readable at the size you're printing?
- Do you own, or have a licence for, every image used?
- Have you ordered a sample before the full run?
Signs your sticker design needs another go
- The text blurs when printed small. Use fewer words.
- The edges look jagged. Use higher resolution artwork.
- It fades in the sun. Choose a waterproof finish.
- It looks like someone else's brand. Change it.

My plain advice on making stickers that sell
Design one sticker you'd want on your own laptop, order a small sample and give a few away before you print a big run. Notice which ones people pick up first. That five-minute test tells you more than any design rule, and you only lose a handful of stickers rather than a box of slow sellers.
If you're selling them online, my Etsy marketing strategy covers how to get the first sales moving.
Frequently asked questions
What is a sticker maker?
It's a tool that turns your artwork, photo, text or an AI prompt into a sticker design you can download, print at home or order as printed stickers.
Are sticker makers free?
Several design tools and AI generators have a free version. Print shops charge for the printing. Check the free plan column above, then confirm on each vendor's site.
Can I copyright a sticker slogan?
No. The U.S. Copyright Office says names, titles, slogans and short phrases aren't protected by copyright, although some may be protected as trademarks.
Can I make WhatsApp stickers from my photos?
Yes. Some apps let you erase a photo background, add text and export the sticker pack straight to WhatsApp.
What file should I send a sticker printer?
Most printers want a high resolution PNG or a vector file. Ask them for their template and cut line guidance first.
Can I sell stickers I make with AI?
Check the tool's terms first, and avoid characters, logos or phrases that belong to someone else.
