Facebook Forum App: What It Is and the New Tools for Group Admins

Forum is Meta's dedicated app for Facebook Groups. It syncs with the groups you're already in on Facebook, puts them in one place, and adds an AI search called Ask that finds answers in real group posts. It's available to download in the US on iOS and Android, and you sign in with your Facebook account.

Meta started testing Forum in May 2026 and added new member features on 29 September. On 23 October it added a batch of tools for group admins: an admin AI that checks pending posts against your rules, more flexible automated moderation, a shared content calendar and pinned comments.

If you run a Facebook group for your business, a community or a client, here's what Forum changes and whether it's worth installing yet.

What Forum does for members

  • All your groups in one app, synced with Facebook, so you can see what's new and jump into the conversations you care about
  • Ask, which uses AI to surface existing group posts and comments that answer your question
  • Compare your options, a new Ask test that brings recommendations together when you're choosing between things
  • Suggested questions on the Ask home page, based on your recent searches
  • Topic labels on posts, being tested, so you can tap a topic and find more conversations about it

The detail that matters for anyone running a public group: Meta says Ask shows conversations from the groups you're in and from public groups you haven't joined yet. So the answers in your public group can now put your community in front of people who've never heard of it.

The new tools for admins (23 October 2026)

ToolWhat it does
Admin AITriages pending items like member requests and pending posts, suggests what to do next, and highlights what's working and what members are discussing
Rule checksTags each pending post as likely meeting your group rules or possibly going against them, in the pending queue and in admin AI
Post draftsAdmin AI drafts posts for you to review, edit and publish when you're ready
Admin AssistAutomated moderation with custom rules that combine conditions such as post length, link usage or prior moderation actions
Stage insightsSuggestions based on whether your group is brand new, growing or well established, shown in the group and in Admin Home
Shared calendarOne calendar for admins and moderators that shows every scheduled post
Batch schedulingAdmin AI can help draft and schedule up to five posts in one go
Pinned commentsPin a reply, such as an answer or correction, where members will see it

Meta is clear that admins stay in control of what they allow, and that every post is still subject to its Community Standards. The rule tags are a suggestion to speed up approvals, not an automatic decision.

How to get started with Forum

  1. Check you're in the US: Meta says Forum is available to download there on iOS and Android.
  2. Install Forum from the App Store or Google Play.
  3. Log in with your Facebook account. Your existing groups appear automatically.
  4. If you're an admin, open Admin Home to find the new insights and the updates on what's new in Groups.
  5. Write down your group rules clearly before you rely on the rule checks, because admin AI checks posts against the rules you set.

Recognising your best members

Alongside Forum, Meta is testing a new role for top community voices. It replaces the old contributor badges and group expert role, and it's earned by helping the community: answering questions, sharing firsthand experience, offering practical tips and starting good conversations.

  • The role comes with a badge and benefits, including posts that publish faster
  • Admins can grant it directly, and Meta will also nominate members to help admins spot them
  • Members are told when they get the role and can remove themselves at any time
  • It's being tested on Forum in the US and on Facebook globally

How I'd use it for a business group

The shared calendar and five-post batch are the practical wins for a small team. Plan a week of posts in one sitting, let your moderator see what's already scheduled, and stop doubling up on the same announcement. Then use the rule tags to clear the pending queue faster on busy days.

If your group rules are vague, fix them first. A rule like be nice gives an AI nothing to check against. Something like no links to your own products outside the Friday thread does. Here's a prompt to tighten them:

Sharpen your group rules

Here are my Facebook group rules.
Rewrite each one so it's specific enough for a moderator to apply in seconds, keep it to eight rules or fewer, and flag any rule that contradicts another.

Work with me

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

Tools that work with it

Forum works with your existing Facebook Groups, Admin Home and Admin Assist, and it sits alongside the Facebook app rather than replacing it. If you host members in more than one place, Circle, Skool, Discord and Mighty Networks are the usual alternatives people compare it with.

My take

Forum is still US-only and still partly a test, so don't move your community strategy around it yet. But the Ask feature drawing on public groups is a reason to keep your group's best answers easy to find, and the admin tools are worth trying if you're in the US. Before you dive in, it's worth knowing the Facebook group roles and how to add an admin, and my guide to Facebook groups for marketing your business covers the strategy side.
