You download Facebook ads receipts from Billing & payments in Meta Ads Manager: open Payment activity, choose the date range and click Download next to the charge. Each receipt shows the amount spent, the billing reason, the campaigns that incurred costs and your ad results, and you can also download every transaction in a date range as one PDF or a billing report as PDF or CSV.
Two limits to know before month end. Meta says receipts can only be downloaded on a desktop, and they can't be addressed to a different customer. If you need a different name or bill-to address, you have to change it in Meta Business Suite first, and the change only applies to future receipts.
Who can download receipts
| Your setup | Permission you need |
|---|---|
| Ad account in a business portfolio | Full control of the ad account |
| Ad account managed in Ads Manager | Admin permissions |
| Any account | A desktop computer. The feature isn't on mobile |
How to download a receipt for one charge
- Go to Billing & payments.
- If you manage several ad accounts, select the right one in Accounts.
- Click Payment activity in the left menu.
- Use the date dropdown to pick the range.
- Find the transaction and, under Action, click Download.
How to download all receipts at once
Follow the first four steps above, then open the Download dropdown and choose one of three options:
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Download all transactions (PDF) | One receipt covering every transaction in the date range |
| Download report (PDF) | The billing report as a PDF |
| Download report (CSV) | The billing report as a spreadsheet file |
The CSV is the one to send your bookkeeper. If you're working out VAT on your ad spend, our guide on whether Facebook charges VAT on ad spend explains what the receipt should show.
How to match a charge on your bank statement
Meta gives every transaction a unique 10-character reference number. It's on the receipt, the billing invoice and your bank statement, which makes it the quickest way to tie the two together:
- On a desktop, go to Billing & payments and click Payment activity.
- Pick the timeframe that matches your statement.
- In the Payment method column, note the reference number. Only some transaction types, such as card payments, show one.
- Search your statement for it. Meta says the line begins with FACEBK* or FACEBOOK INC. followed by the reference.
You can do it the other way round too: in Payment activity, click Reference number, enter the number from your statement and click Search to download that exact receipt. If your bank only shows part of the number, Meta suggests asking the bank for the full one.
What a small unexpected charge usually is
A small charge you don't recognise is often a temporary authorisation that Meta uses to check a new card. Meta says these are voided straight away and should disappear from your statement within 3 to 5 business days. If one stays longer, ask your bank why it hasn't been removed. For anything else you don't recognise, Meta's advice is to check with anyone you share the payment method or ad account with first.
Monthly invoices instead of receipts
Advertisers on monthly invoicing get invoices rather than per-charge receipts. Each monthly invoice includes the issue date, the payment due date, your payment terms (typically 30 calendar days, or as your country's law sets) and any taxes such as VAT or GST. To view or download them:
- Go to Billing & payments and click Invoices.
- Choose Invoices from the dropdown and set the date range.
- Click the Download icon for one, or Download all and choose how to group them.
You need full control of the business portfolio and finance access for this, and Meta says monthly invoicing only becomes active on the 1st of the month after it's set up.
Why the receipt numbers differ from Ads Manager
Meta says the clicks or impressions shown in Ads Manager can differ from the clicks or impressions you're charged for on the receipt. The receipt is the billing record, so use it for your accounts and Ads Manager for performance.

My verdict
Download the monthly CSV report on the first working day of each month and you'll never be hunting for a receipt at tax time. Fix your business name and address before that first download, because changes don't apply to receipts you've already got.
