If your easypaisa account is blocked because of wrong PIN attempts, dial *786*8*1# from your registered number, enter your 13-digit CNIC and set a new 5-digit PIN. That resets the PIN and reactivates the account. For other blocks, like an expired CNIC, call 3737 or 042-111-003-737.
The right fix depends on why it's blocked, so work out the reason first. The wrong-PIN block is the most common, and you can clear it yourself in under a minute.
Why easypaisa accounts get blocked, and the fix for each
| Reason | What you'll see | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Too many wrong PINs | Login refused after several tries | Dial *786*8*1#, enter CNIC, set a new PIN |
| Expired CNIC | Account restricted until updated | Renew your CNIC, then call the helpline to update it |
| Account already exists on your CNIC | Sign-up or login problems | Call the helpline to verify and migrate the account |
| Any other hold you can't explain | Account restricted | Call the helpline with your CNIC ready |
| OTP limit reached | No more OTPs today | The FAQ says 3 OTPs a day; wait or call the helpline |
Unblock after wrong PIN attempts, step by step
- Use the phone with the SIM your easypaisa account is registered on.
- Dial *786*8*1#.
- Enter your 13-digit CNIC number to verify.
- Enter a new 5-digit PIN.
- Confirm the new PIN.
easypaisa's FAQ says this resets the PIN and reactivates the account. You can then log in to the app with the new PIN.
The PIN rules that cause repeat blocks
Here's the part people miss. easypaisa won't accept just any 5 digits. Its FAQ lists the rules:
- It must be 5 digits.
- It can't be in ascending order, like a run of numbers going up.
- It can't have more than 3 repeated characters.
- It can't be an old PIN you've used before.
That last rule catches people out. If you try to set your old PIN again, it'll be refused. Choose something new that you'll remember, and avoid birthdays or the last digits of your phone number.
Forgot your PIN but not blocked yet?
Use the app instead of guessing. Enter your mobile number in the easypaisa app, and when it asks for your PIN, tap Forgot PIN. You'll enter your CNIC and your new PIN twice. Guessing is what leads to the block in the first place, so stop after one wrong try and reset.
Blocked because of your CNIC
Your easypaisa account is tied to your CNIC, and easypaisa allows one account per CNIC. If your CNIC has expired, the account is restricted until it's updated with a valid one. Renew your CNIC with NADRA first, then call easypaisa's helpline to update the record. If you've replaced your CNIC or need to change the CNIC linked to your account, easypaisa's FAQ says to call the helpline for that too.
If you're told an account already exists on your CNIC, perhaps from an old number, easypaisa's FAQ says the helpline will verify you and migrate the account.
How to stop it happening again
- Pick a PIN you'll remember but nobody could guess, then never write it next to your phone number.
- Stop after one wrong attempt and use Forgot PIN instead of trying again.
- Renew your CNIC before it expires and update easypaisa as soon as you have the new one.
- Keep the SIM registered to easypaisa active, since the reset and OTPs depend on it.
- Don't let children or relatives play with the app on your phone, where a few wrong taps can lock it.
If you share your phone at home, turn on your phone's screen lock as well. easypaisa's FAQ explains that the app asks for your PIN at every login, but a locked phone is your first line of defence.
Helpline numbers
- 3737 from a Telenor number.
- 042-111-003-737 from Jazz, Zong, Ufone or a landline.
- WhatsApp, through the link on easypaisa's FAQ page.
Have your CNIC and registered mobile number ready when you call.
No smartphone? Use USSD
You don't need the app to fix a wrong-PIN block. The *786*8*1# reset works from the registered SIM on any phone. easypaisa's FAQ also lists USSD codes for creating an account without the app: *786# for Telenor users and *2262# for Zong, Ufone and Jazz users, with your CNIC and its date of issue. That's useful for a parent or grandparent with a basic phone.

Moving to a new phone
If your account exists but you don't have a working PIN on a new phone, easypaisa's FAQ says to download the app, enter your mobile number, your CNIC and its date of issue, verify the OTP, then create a new PIN. Keep the same SIM in the new phone, since the account is tied to your number.
If you think someone else blocked it
Sometimes a block is the first sign that someone has been trying to get into your account. If you didn't enter the wrong PINs yourself, reset the PIN, check your transaction history straight away and call the helpline. And remember that easypaisa's FAQ says never to share your PIN with anyone, under any circumstances. No real easypaisa agent will ask for it.
Scammers often call pretending your account is blocked and ask for a code to "unblock" it. Hang up and call the official helpline yourself. My earning app safety checklist covers the other warning signs, and if you're earning online in Pakistan, see earning from Pinterest in Pakistan.
My take
Most of the time, a blocked easypaisa account is a PIN problem you can fix yourself with *786*8*1#. The other cases, mostly CNIC issues, need the helpline, and it helps to have your CNIC in hand when you call. Set a PIN you'll remember this time, and use Forgot PIN rather than guessing.
