Only on the top plan. Google AI Ultra includes a YouTube Premium individual plan at no extra cost in the countries Google lists, Google AI Pro includes the lighter YouTube Premium Lite instead, and the Google One storage plans (100 GB and 200 GB) include neither. In six countries you can also add full YouTube Premium to a Google One AI plan as a discounted add-on.
Google has folded so many things into Google One that it's easy to assume YouTube Premium is in there somewhere. It is, but only at the very top, and the plan most people upgrade to gets the Lite version with real limits. Here's the plan-by-plan picture from Google's own pages.
Google One plans and what they include from YouTube
| Google One plan | YouTube benefit | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Free (15 GB) | None | Storage only |
| Basic (100 GB) and Standard (200 GB) | None | Google says these plans aren't eligible for the YouTube Premium add-on either |
| Google AI Plus | None listed | Gemini and storage, no YouTube benefit on Google's plan comparison |
| Google AI Pro | YouTube Premium Lite | Fewer ads on most videos, but no YouTube Music Premium and ads still on music and Shorts |
| Google AI Ultra | YouTube Premium individual plan | Limited availability: only in the countries Google lists |
What YouTube Premium Lite with AI Pro leaves out
This is the part that catches people. Google's help page for the AI Pro bundle spells out that Lite isn't full Premium:
- Ads may still appear on music content, YouTube Shorts, in search results and while you browse.
- It doesn't include YouTube Music Premium, so songs in the YouTube Music app aren't ad-free, offline or in the background.
- Downloads and background play don't work on Shorts or on music content, which includes covers, dance videos and even a vlog with a popular song playing.
- Continue watching, Jump Ahead, queuing and high-quality audio and video aren't included.
If you mostly watch creators, how-tos and podcasts, Lite covers a lot. If you listen to music on YouTube, it won't feel like Premium. My explainer on what YouTube Premium Lite is goes deeper on the music rule.
The rules on the AI Pro bundle
- It switches on automatically for eligible paid members. You don't need to claim it.
- It isn't available during an AI Pro trial. It's added once the trial converts to a paid plan.
- If you already pay for YouTube Premium or Premium Lite separately, the bundled Lite won't activate, and your existing subscription isn't cancelled for you. Cancel it yourself and the bundled Lite starts.
- Only the family plan manager gets it. Other people in your Google family group can still see ads.
- If your payment fails, you get a three-day grace period before the benefit is suspended.
Where the YouTube benefits are available
Both benefits depend on where you live. Google lists the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia for both the Lite benefit on AI Pro and the full Premium benefit on AI Ultra, along with dozens of other countries, including India, Pakistan, Nigeria and the Philippines.
The discounted add-on is a different story. Google lists only six countries for it: Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United States. So if you're in the UK or Australia, the add-on isn't an option at the time of writing.
How to add YouTube Premium to Google One
If you're in an add-on country and on a Google One AI plan, Google's steps are:
- On a computer, sign in to your Google account and go to one.google.com.
- Click Benefits on the left.
- Find the YouTube Premium benefit card and click Add to plan.
- Review the new plan price and details, then click Subscribe.
Google offers the add-on free for 1 month to eligible members, but not to anyone under 18, Google Workspace accounts, family members who aren't the plan manager, or people who got Google One through a third party or a discounted Pixel bundle. The 12-month AI Pro trial isn't eligible either.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
If you already pay for both
Google says you can cancel your existing YouTube Premium, and it runs to the end of its billing cycle. When you switch to the add-on bundle, your old Google One AI membership cancels and you're refunded for the time left on it. There are no refunds or credits for part of a billing period on the YouTube side, so time the switch for just before your YouTube renewal date. To cancel the add-on later, go to youtube.com/paid_memberships and pick the one marked Provided by Google One.
My verdict
Don't upgrade Google One expecting free YouTube Premium. AI Pro gives you Lite, which is fine for creator videos but not for music, and only AI Ultra includes the full thing. If YouTube Premium is the main reason you're looking, compare it on its own first: my guide on whether YouTube Premium is worth it lays out the plans, and the YouTube Premium family plan is the route if several people in your home want it, because the Google One benefits don't extend to family members.
