Can you not see your likes on X anymore? The Straight Answer for X in 2026

Yes, this is correct. X (formerly Twitter) removed the public Likes tab from profiles in 2024, so you cannot see other people's likes anymore, and they cannot see yours. You can still see your own likes privately through your account, and liking posts still works exactly as before. It is just no longer public.

What changed on X

If you have gone looking for the Likes tab on someone's profile and found nothing there, you are not imagining it. X (formerly Twitter) quietly removed public like counts and the public Likes tab from profiles a while back, and that change has stuck into 2026.

Before this, anyone could click on your profile, tap Likes, and scroll through every post you had ever liked. That is gone now. It was removed for privacy reasons, after plenty of users complained about being judged or exposed by posts they had simply tapped a heart on.

So no, you are not missing a setting. The feature itself has been taken away platform wide. There is no hidden toggle that brings it back.

Can you still see your own likes

Yes, you can. This only affects public visibility. You can still find a private list of everything you have liked through your own account settings.

  1. Open your profile on X
  2. Tap your profile picture or the More menu
  3. Look for Likes under your activity or settings area
  4. Scroll through your private like history

This list is only visible to you. Nobody else, not even people you follow, can see it from their end.

Why X removed public likes

The official reasoning given was privacy. Likes were being used to work out people's opinions, relationships, and interests in ways many users found uncomfortable. Journalists, researchers, and plain old nosy followers used public likes to dig into accounts, including high profile ones.

There was also a knock on effect on behaviour. Some people stopped liking posts they agreed with because they did not want it showing up publicly. Removing the public list was meant to bring that honesty back, even if nobody can verify it.

I will say plainly, I do not know of any plan to bring public likes back. If that changes, it will be announced by X itself, not through a setting you stumble across.

What you can still see about engagement

Likes themselves, the numbers, still show up under individual posts. You can see how many likes a post has received. What you cannot do is click through to see exactly who liked it, unless X has shown you that detail directly within a specific feature.

Retweets, now called reposts, and replies are generally still visible in their own tabs depending on the post and account settings. So engagement is not hidden everywhere, just the Likes tab specifically.

If you are trying to work out whether someone has seen or engaged with your content, likes are no longer a reliable public signal. Replies and reposts remain more visible and are a better indicator.

Does this affect notifications

No, it does not. If someone likes your post, you will still get a notification telling you who did it, assuming your notification settings allow it. This part has not changed.

The removal only affects the public facing list on profiles, not the private notification you receive. So you will still know in real time when someone likes something you have posted, even though a stranger looking at your profile will not be able to browse that history.

What this means for businesses and creators

If you run a business account or post content for an audience, this change matters a bit. You can no longer point people to your Likes tab as a form of social proof or use it to research what competitors or customers are engaging with publicly.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

I would not build any strategy around public likes anymore. Focus instead on replies, reposts, and direct engagement in comments, since those are still visible and give you a clearer, more honest read on how content is landing.

If you were using likes as a research tool to understand an audience or a competitor, you will need to switch to looking at what people are saying in replies and what they are reposting instead.

What to do if you think something is broken

Sometimes people assume a bug is at play when nothing is wrong, the feature has simply been removed. Before assuming a fault, check the basics first.

  1. Update the X app to the latest version
  2. Check you are logged into the correct account
  3. Confirm you are looking for your own private likes, not someone else's public ones
  4. Restart the app if your own private likes list will not load

If your own private likes list will not load after trying these steps, that could be an app issue worth reporting to X support. But if you are trying to see someone else's likes publicly, that is not a bug, that is simply how the platform works now.

The bottom line

You cannot see other people's likes on X anymore, and they cannot see yours. This is a deliberate privacy change, not a glitch on your device or account. Your own like history is still there, just private and only visible to you through your settings.

I would not wait around for this to be reversed. Plan your use of X around the features that remain visible, replies, reposts, and post level like counts, rather than trying to find a workaround for something that has been intentionally switched off.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see who liked my own posts on X

Yes, you still get notified when someone likes your post, as long as your notification settings allow it. This has not changed. It is only the public Likes tab on profiles that was removed.

Is there any way to see someone else's likes on X

No, there is not. The public Likes tab was removed from all profiles. There is no setting, workaround, or third party method that restores this for another account.

Can I still see my own like history

Yes. Your own likes remain visible to you privately through your account settings. Nobody else can see this list, but you can always check it yourself.

Will X bring back public likes in future

I cannot say for certain, and there is no indication this is planned. If X changes this, it would be announced through an official update, not a hidden setting you can enable yourself.
