Bolt is an AI app and website builder for non-coders and small-business owners who want to describe an app and see it built. The catch is the free plan: 1M tokens a month but a 300K daily cap, Bolt branding on your sites, no custom domain and no rollover, as of Oct 2026.
Bolt's homepage promises custom apps for your business "built in an afternoon", with no code and no developer. That's why people search for a review before signing up: they want to know how far the free plan really goes. I read Bolt's homepage and its pricing page, and the honest answer is in the token rows of the comparison table.
Bolt plans, tokens and caps
| Plan | Price (dollars, billed monthly) | What's included | The limit that bites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 dollars a month, free forever, no card required | 1M tokens a month, public and private projects, unlimited databases, website hosting | 300K daily token limit; Bolt branding on websites; no custom domain; unused tokens don't roll over; 10MB file uploads; 333K web requests a month |
| Pro | 25 dollars a month, billed monthly, plus applicable taxes | Your own domain, no Bolt branding, 10M tokens a month with rollover, expanded database capacity, choice of database provider, newest AI models, connectors and MCPs, SEO boosting | Starts at 10M tokens a month; no daily limit; 100MB uploads; 1M web requests a month |
| Teams | 30 dollars per member a month, billed monthly, plus applicable taxes | Everything in Pro, plus centralised billing, team-level access management and granular admin controls | Starts at 10M tokens per member; no daily limit; up to 1M web requests a month |
These are the billed-monthly prices on Bolt's pricing page as of Oct 2026. The page also has a Yearly toggle labelled "Save up to 28%". Check the vendor's pricing page before you buy.
Bolt's free plan has two token limits, not one
The headline on the free plan is 1M tokens a month. The line that matters more is underneath it in the comparison table: a daily token limit of 300K. On Pro and Teams the same row says "No Limit". So on Free you can't pour your whole month into one long weekend build. A long session can hit the daily ceiling well before the monthly one, and then you wait for the next day.
The second difference is rollover. The table says unused tokens rolling over is not included on Free. Pro is listed as "10M tokens/month, rollover included". If your usage comes in bursts, a quiet week on Free is simply lost, while on Pro it carries forward.
The third is what your visitors see. Free sites carry Bolt branding, and the rows for branding removed, custom domains and private sharing all say "Not included" on Free and "Included" from Pro up. That's fine for a prototype you're showing a friend. It's not what I'd put in front of paying customers under my own business name.
Last, the small print. Every paid price on the page carries an asterisk, and the footnote says "Plus applicable taxes". Teams is priced per member, so a team of three is three seats, not one.
What Bolt builds, and what paying adds
Bolt is aimed at people who'd rather describe what they want than write code. The free plan already includes website hosting, unlimited databases and both public and private projects, so you can get something running without a card. What Pro adds is mostly about taking it live as a business: your own domain, no Bolt branding, more database capacity, a choice of database provider, the newest AI models, connectors and MCPs, and SEO boosting. Teams adds the admin side: centralised billing, team-level access management and granular admin controls.

Who Bolt suits, and who should pass
Bolt is worth a look if:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- You're a non-coder or small-business owner who wants to describe a site or app and see a working version.
- You're happy to try it on a daily-capped free allowance first.
- You only want to pay once you need your own domain and no Bolt branding.
I'd pass for now if:
- You need a custom domain or an unbranded site without paying. Both start on Pro.
- You want a token allowance with no daily ceiling on the free plan. Free stops at 300K a day.
My verdict on Bolt
I'd start on the free plan to find out whether describing an app gets you something you'd use. The 1M monthly tokens are plenty to learn on, as long as you spread the work across days because of the 300K daily cap. The moment the project is meant for customers, though, I'd move to Pro at 25 dollars a month, because that's where your own domain, branding removal and rolling tokens all arrive together. I'd skip Teams unless more than one person needs to build, since it's charged per member.
