Blotato is an AI content and scheduling tool for solo creators and small teams who want to write, make images and short videos, and post to lots of social accounts from one place. The catch: as of Oct 2026 there's no free plan, and the 7-day trial leaves out the API and MCP server, so making an API key starts your paid plan on the spot.
If you're looking at Blotato, you probably want to know two things: what each plan gives you, and whether you can try the bit you care about before the card gets charged. I read Blotato's own pricing page in its monthly view, and the answer to the second question isn't what most people assume.
Blotato's three monthly plans side by side
| Plan | Price | What's included | The limit that bites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 29 dollars a month | Unlimited AI writing, AI images, AI video, voices and captions, 1,250 AI credits a month, 20 social media accounts | 1,000 active contacts a month for DMs and comment replies |
| Creator | 97 dollars a month | Everything in Starter, 5,000 AI credits a month, faster video processing, 40 social media accounts, a database of viral posts, help with n8n and Make automations | 6,000 active contacts a month |
| Agency | 499 dollars a month | Everything in Creator, 28,000 AI credits a month, dedicated video processing, a dedicated support channel | The highest active-contacts allowance of the three; the card doesn't state an account number |
Prices as listed on Blotato's pricing page, monthly view, as of Oct 2026, check the vendor's pricing page before you buy. The page shows a dollar sign without naming the currency.
Why you can't test the API route for free
Here's the part that decides it for a lot of people. Blotato's trial runs for 7 days, needs a card, and gives you 60 AI credits and access to every feature except two: the API and the MCP server. That sounds like a small exclusion until you read the next line on the page. Generating an API key in Settings, under API, ends the trial right away and starts your paid subscription, even if you've still got trial days left.
It matters because the page also says n8n and Make need an API key. So if your whole reason for wanting Blotato is to have an automation publish for you, you can't try that route without paying. You'll be on a paid plan the moment you set it up. The only part that's free to try is the web app.
My suggestion is simple. Use the trial to check the web app does what you need: writing, the image and video credits, the templates and the scheduling. Only make the API key once you're sure you want to keep paying, and do it knowing the clock has stopped.
What the credits pay for, and what they don't
Credits are the other thing people get muddled about, so here's how the page puts it. Credits power AI image and video generation, nothing else. Writing is unlimited on every plan, and scheduling, publishing, AI voiceovers and API calls don't use credits at all. Each credit roughly maps to one generated image or a few seconds of generated video.
That makes the credit counts easier to read. Starter's 1,250 a month is your image and video allowance. If you mostly write posts and schedule them, you won't burn through it. If you're making a lot of short video, the jump to Creator's 5,000 is the reason to move up, not the account limit.
What Blotato does day to day
- Write posts with AI, in any of the 58 languages the page lists, with unlimited threads and sources.
- Make images and short videos with AI, add voices and captions, and start from the viral templates.
- Schedule and publish to your connected social accounts: 20 on Starter and 40 on Creator.
- Handle DMs and comment replies, counted as active contacts per month.
- Connect automation tools through the API or MCP server, on a paid plan only.
If you're still working out how all of that fits into a weekly routine, I've written up a simple AI content system for a small business, and there's a wider round-up of auto-posting tools for busy founders too.
Who Blotato suits, and who should pass
It's a good fit for:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Solo creators who want writing, images, short video and scheduling in one tool.
- Small teams posting to plenty of accounts, since Starter already lists 20.
- People who are happy paying monthly and will switch to yearly later if it sticks.
It's a weaker fit for:
- Anyone who wants a permanent free plan. There isn't one.
- Anyone who needs to test the API or MCP connection before paying.
- People who only want to schedule posts and won't touch AI images or video, because the credits are a big part of what each plan sells.
My plain advice on Blotato
I'd treat the trial as a test of the web app and nothing more. If the writing, the credits and the scheduling suit you after a week, Starter is where I'd begin, and I'd only move to Creator if video is eating the credits. I'd skip it if you need the API working before you'll commit, because the page is clear that making a key ends the trial. On billing, the page says yearly saves about 17%, paying for 10 months and getting 12, but you switch to it from the Billing Portal once you're in, not on the pricing page. Please can you check that page yourself before you decide, as plans move.

Frequently asked questions
Is Blotato free?
No. Blotato's pricing page says there's no free plan, but every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. A card is required, nothing is charged during the trial, and you can cancel before it ends.
Does the Blotato trial include the API?
No. The trial covers the web app but not the API or the MCP server. Generating an API key ends the trial straight away and starts your paid subscription, even with trial days left.
What do Blotato AI credits cover?
Only AI image and video generation. Writing is unlimited on every plan, and scheduling, publishing, AI voiceovers and API calls don't use credits.
Does Blotato offer yearly billing?
Yes. The page says yearly billing saves about 17%, so you pay for 10 months and get 12. You switch to it from Settings, under Billing, after you've signed up on a monthly plan.
