Best Virtual Mailbox Services (2026): 10 US and UK Options

Virtual mailbox services give your business a real street address, receive your post, scan it so you can read it online, and forward, shred or store it on request. Some only handle mail, while others bundle a virtual office or registered agent service. Ten providers with US or UK addresses follow in no particular order.

A new company needs somewhere official for its post to land, and for a lot of founders that can't be the kitchen table. A virtual mailbox fixes that, but the providers split into two camps, and picking from the wrong one is how people end up with features they don't use.

The ten providers below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each provider's own website, read as of Oct 2026. Plans and what's in them change often, so check each provider's own site before you sign up.

Mail-only mailbox or virtual office bundle?

Here's what stood out reading the provider pages. The networks advertise reach: iPostal1 lists 4,250+ real physical street addresses, Anytime Mailbox 2,500+ locations and PostScan Mail 1,000+ locations, and the last of those also links USPS Form 1583 in its menu, the form you'll meet when you open a US mailbox. Earth Class Mail's page is now branded LegalZoom Virtual Mail, so don't be surprised when the name changes on you.

The bundles are where they differ most. Physical Address offers free registered agent service with an account, Virtual Post Mail says its registered agent comes with every virtual mailbox plan, and the biggest network above sells one as an add-on. Alliance Virtual Offices explains the difference between a virtual office and a PO box, and Hoxton Mix, a London address, says mail is stored for 30 days before secure shredding.

What a virtual mailbox handles, and what sits outside it

  • Mail handling. The provider receives your letters, scans the envelope, opens and scans the contents if you ask, then forwards, stores or shreds each item.
  • Packages. Many accept parcels from the big carriers, but check before you route deliveries there.
  • Cheque deposit. Some US services will deposit cheques that arrive in your mail, which saves a trip to the bank.
  • Registered agent. A separate legal role: the person or company that receives official legal papers for your business. Some bundles include it and some charge it as an extra.
  • Virtual office extras. Call answering, meeting rooms and day offices. Useful if you meet clients, unnecessary if you only need the post.

Questions for a virtual mailbox provider

  1. Which country, state or city do you need the address in?
  2. Is it a real street address, or a box number that some banks and registrations won't accept?
  3. Is registered agent service included, or is it an add-on?
  4. How long is mail stored before it's shredded, and can you change that?
  5. Can it take packages from every carrier you use?
  6. What ID and paperwork will you need to open it? In the US, ask about USPS Form 1583.

My plain advice on choosing a virtual mailbox

Start with what you need the address for. If it's only somewhere for post to land, a mail-only mailbox in the right state or city is enough, and the size of the location list matters more than the extras. If you also need a registered agent, a bundle saves you running two providers. And if you meet clients face to face, a virtual office with meeting rooms earns its place. Open the account, send yourself a test letter and check the scan before you put the address on anything official. Anyone who only needs post redirected to another address can compare mail forwarding services instead.

Still deciding how to set the business up? My comparison of an LLC vs a sole proprietorship covers that, and my list of free business email addresses sorts out the inbox side.

Frequently asked questions

What is a virtual mailbox?

It's a real street address run by a provider that receives your post, scans it so you can read it online, and forwards, stores or shreds it when you ask.

Is a virtual mailbox the same as a virtual office?

Not quite. A virtual mailbox handles mail. A virtual office usually adds things like call answering, meeting rooms or day offices on top of the address.

Can a virtual mailbox act as my registered agent?

A registered agent is a separate role. Some providers bundle registered agent service with a mailbox and others sell it as an add-on, so check what your state requires and what the provider includes.

Can I get a UK business address with a virtual mailbox?

Yes. Some providers offer London addresses with mail scanning and forwarding of post within the UK, alongside US-focused networks.

Can a virtual mailbox receive packages?

Many can, from the major carriers. Check the provider's own page for which carriers it accepts and how long it holds a parcel.

Is a virtual mailbox a PO box?

Usually not. Most give you a real street address, which is the main reason people choose them over a PO box. Confirm the address type before you sign up.
