A salon booking system lets clients book appointments online, sends reminders and keeps your diary, payments and client notes in one place. UK salons choose between apps that also help new clients find you, salon software built for hair and beauty teams, and simpler appointment tools that suit a solo stylist. Decide whether you want discovery or just a diary first.
If you're still taking bookings by phone between clients, you already know what it does to your day. A booking system won't cut a fringe for you, but it'll stop the phone interrupting while you do.
The ten options below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each company's own website, read as of Oct 2026. If you run another kind of appointment business too, my guide to choosing booking software for a service business covers the wider picture.
Salon booking systems for UK hair and beauty, side by side
I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Do you want new clients, or just a tidy diary?
This is the big decision, and it matters more than any single feature. Three of these apps also put you in front of people looking for a hair or beauty appointment near them. Treatwell's page says it only takes commission on a client's first appointment with you, and repeat bookings are commission-free. Booksy offers Discovery for local clients actively searching for salon services nearby, and Fresha says it puts you in front of millions of clients looking to book.
The rest are booking software only. You bring the clients, through your website, Instagram, Facebook or Google, and the software handles the diary, reminders and payments. That's often all a salon with a loyal client list needs.
Solo stylist, small team or multi-site group?
- Solo stylists and mobile pros. A simple booking page, reminders and card payments on your phone are usually enough. A few tools here name a free plan, and one says its free plan covers up to 4 users.
- Small salon teams. Look for staff columns, deposits, a waitlist and stock tracking, so the diary fills itself when someone cancels.
- Multi-site groups. Centralised client data, staff performance reports and tools that work across every location matter most here.
Five settings to switch on in your first week
- Deposits or a cancellation policy. They're the simplest way to protect a slot from a no-show.
- Automatic reminders by text or email. Most tools here send them, so check they're switched on.
- Reserve with Google, plus a booking button on Instagram and Facebook, so clients can book wherever they found you.
- A waitlist, so a last-minute cancellation becomes a booking instead of an empty chair.
- Rebooking prompts. A nudge after each visit keeps regulars coming back without you having to chase them.
If you're just starting out on your own, my guide to appointment booking software for small businesses walks through the simpler tools.

My plain advice on choosing a salon booking system in the UK
Decide first whether you want a booking app to send you new clients. If you do, read how each one charges for those new clients and what happens when they rebook. If you've already got a loyal client list, pick booking software you control and point your website, Instagram and Google profile at it. Either way, switch on deposits and reminders from day one, because an empty chair is the one thing you can't sell later.
Then give it a month before you judge it, so your regulars have time to get used to booking online.

Frequently asked questions
What is a salon booking system?
It's software that lets clients book appointments online at any hour, sends reminders, and keeps your diary, client notes and payments in one place, usually with a phone app for you and your team.
Is there a free salon booking system in the UK?
Some tools name a free plan, as of Oct 2026. The free plan column shows which ones, and one card payments company describes its booking system as free on its UK page.
Which salon booking apps help you find new clients?
Client-finding apps list your salon where people search for appointments. One says it only takes commission on a client's first booking with you, so check how each app handles repeat clients.
Can clients book through Instagram and Google?
Yes. Several tools here add a booking button to Instagram and Facebook, and some connect to Reserve with Google so people can book straight from your Google Business Profile.
How do I cut no-shows at my salon?
Take a deposit or card on file, set a clear cancellation policy and send automatic reminders. One booking app's page says its users see a 25% drop in no-shows and cancellations.
