The best job board software lets you launch a branded jobs site for your audience, take job posts from employers, and help candidates find and apply for roles. Some are hosted platforms you can set up in minutes, some are WordPress plugins, and a few connect to an applicant tracking system. Ten options follow in no particular order.
A niche job board can be one of the most useful things a community, association or publisher offers. Employers want to reach your audience, and your audience wants roles that general sites bury.
The ten platforms below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you're hiring for your own team instead, my roundup of applicant tracking systems is the better place to start.
Job board software side by side
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names a free plan, a free version, a free account or an open source edition. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

You're responsible for what goes on your board
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) says it's illegal for an employer to publish a job advertisement that shows a preference for, or discourages someone from applying, because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Employers write the ads, but your board is where they appear. Give employers clear posting rules, add a way to flag a listing and check new posts before they go live, at least until you trust the regular posters.
Hosted platform or WordPress plugin?
A hosted platform handles hosting, security, updates and job search for you. It's the quickest way to launch and suits people who'd rather not touch code.
A WordPress plugin keeps the board on your existing site and under your control. You'll need to manage updates and speed yourself, but you keep every page on your own domain.
Questions to ask before you choose
- Who will post jobs: employers, us, or automatic imports?
- Does it need to run on our own domain?
- Can candidates set up job alerts?
- Can we add posting rules and moderate listings?
- Does it link to an applicant tracking system?
- How will we tell employers the board exists?
Once applications arrive, our list of video interview software sets out tools for screening candidates by video.
Signs you're ready to launch a job board
- Members ask about open roles. Give them a home.
- Employers ask to reach your audience. Offer a board.
- Jobs sit in a newsletter footer. Move them online.
- You run a careers page by hand. Automate it.
Do you make job board software or recruitment platforms? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on job board software
Start with your audience, not the software. A board for a tight niche, with jobs your members can't find elsewhere, beats a broad board with thousands of copied listings every time.
Seed it with a handful of good roles before you launch, then ask a few friendly employers to post. My piece on finding talent in a niche shows the employer side of the same problem.
Frequently asked questions
What is job board software?
It's software for running your own jobs website, where employers post roles and candidates search and apply, usually under your own brand.
Can I run a job board on WordPress?
Yes. Plugins add job listings, employer submissions and applications to an existing WordPress site.
How long does it take to launch a job board?
Hosted platforms can have a basic board running in minutes, though filling it with good roles takes longer.
Who is responsible for job ad content?
Employers write their ads, but a board owner should set posting rules and remove ads that break equal opportunity laws.
Can a job board import jobs automatically?
Many platforms can import jobs from feeds or other sites, which helps a new board look busy from day one.
Is there free job board software?
Yes. There's an open source WordPress plugin, and some hosted platforms let you start before choosing a plan.
