The best inventory accounting software depends on where you want your stock records to live. Some products on this list are accounting or ERP systems with inventory built in, and some are inventory systems that sit beside an accounting package such as QuickBooks or Xero. Decide which route suits you, then check the integrations each maker lists.
Search for inventory accounting software and you'll find two quite different things under one phrase. One is an accounting system that tracks stock. The other is an inventory system that keeps stock in its own app and connects to your books.
This list sticks to what each maker's own website says, read on 2 Nov 2026 (as of Nov 2026). It's alphabetical and in no particular order. It's not accounting advice: I've described what each product says it covers, and left costing and valuation questions for your accountant.

Stock in the ledger, or stock beside it?
Here's the split that shapes every other choice. Finale Inventory titles itself 'Ecommerce Inventory and Accounting Software for Growing Brands', and Fishbowl calls itself 'Inventory Management Software for QuickBooks & Xero'. With tools like these, stock lives in the inventory app and the ledger stays in your accounting package.
At the other end, Sage 300 is described as a way to manage multi-entity accounting and inventory in one product, and Brightpearl lists 'Retail Accounting' under a retail ERP. Neither route is wrong. They're simply different jobs, and it's worth knowing which one you're shopping for.
- Accounting or ERP with inventory: stock and the books in one product.
- Inventory systems beside your accounts: stock in its own app, connected to an accounting package.
- Retail and ecommerce systems: built around stores, online channels and warehouses.
Which accounting package does it connect to?
If you already use an accounting package, start with the integrations. Katana lists QuickBooks Online among its integrations, next to Shopify and Amazon. Zoho Books comes at it from the other side: it's an online accounting product with inventory on its own features menu.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
inFlow, Unleashed and Cin7 lead with stock, orders and purchasing, and their pages show invoicing, order management or integrations. Check how each one connects to the accounting package you use before you move anything across.
Manufacturing, warehouses and lots
If you make what you sell, look for production tools. Several products here list them: one sells a Manufacturing product for QuickBooks or Xero users, one offers assembly and BOMs on a Manufacturing plan, and one lists production and BOM management. If you track batches, one ecommerce tool lists lot ID and serial number tracking on its own page.
Acumatica's product menu goes wider still, naming construction, distribution and professional services management, so it's worth a look if stock is only one part of what you run.
Checks before you connect stock to your books
- Do I want stock and accounting in one product, or two connected ones?
- Which accounting package do I already use, and does the tool list it?
- Do I sell in shops, online or both?
- Do I make products, or only buy and sell them?
- How many warehouses or locations do I run?
- Has my accountant agreed how stock should be recorded in my books?
Do you make inventory accounting software? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My advice for picking inventory accounting software
Decide where stock should live before you look at features. If you'd rather have one system, start with the accounting and ERP products that list inventory. If you're happy with your accounting package, shortlist the inventory systems that name it as an integration. Either way, ask your accountant how stock should be recorded in your books before you switch anything over.
For the accounting side, see my roundup of accounting software tools, and if you're still choosing a stock system, here's my list of inventory management software for small business. If the language in your books is the sticking point, start with cash vs accrual accounting.
