The best automatic pet feeder depends on what your pet eats and how many pets share it. Dry food feeders, wet food feeders and multi-pet feeders that recognise a microchip or an RFID tag are sold as different products. Pick the feeder type first, then compare the makers that sell it.
Search for an automatic pet feeder and you'll keep meeting the same few makers, each selling feeders as one line in a bigger pet range. Look closer and the feeders themselves aren't one product at all.
This list covers nine makers, using only what each one's own site says, read on 2 Nov 2026 (as of Nov 2026). It's alphabetical and in no particular order. It sticks to which feeders each maker sells and what sits beside them in the shop, so there's nothing here about capacity, apps or cameras.

Dry food, wet food or several pets: the feeder split
Here's the split a buyer wouldn't guess. Petlibro lists 'Multi-pet RFID recognition', a 'Polar Smart wet food feeder' and 'Granary' dry food feeders. Sure Petcare calls itself a maker of 'Microchip Cat Flaps & Feeders'. Neakasa sells a 'Smart Wet Food Feeder', and Oneisall bundles an 'Automatic LitterBox, Feeder& Water Fountain'. Dry food, wet food and multi-pet feeders are different products, so pick the type before the brand.
- Dry food: a feeder sold for kibble, like one brand's Granary line.
- Wet food: a feeder sold for wet meals, such as a smart wet food feeder.
- Multi-pet: a feeder that recognises a pet by its microchip or an RFID tag.
Two machines: one for kibble, one for wet meals
The clearest split is food. One smart feeder brand names its lines by it: Granary for dry food and Polar for wet food, with desiccant bags sold as an accessory. Another maker sells the Riko, which its shop calls an automatic cat feeder for fresh-made wet meals, beside its litter boxes and pet grooming kits.
If your pet eats both, check whether the maker sells both kinds. One brand here does, and has a compare feeders page and a help me choose page to sort them out.
Feeders for homes with more than one pet
If you've got two cats and one is a food thief, look at multi-pet feeders. One maker sells its feeders as microchip feeders, next to its microchip cat flaps, with a Pet Feeder Connect model. Another sells a feeder called One with multi-pet RFID recognition.

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
CATLINK sells a Multi-Cat Recognition feeder and RFID pet collar tags for its smart feeders. So before you buy, check whether your pet will need a tag on its collar, or whether the feeder is sold as working with a microchip.
Feeders sold as part of a matching set
Several makers sell the feeder as one piece of a set. Petkit splits its whole store into Clean, Drink and Feed, with feeders beside fountains, litter boxes and carriers. Another maker sells an all-in-one cat care system with a litter box, feeder and water fountain, and one cat brand sells EcoSystem sets and feeding and drinking sets that pair a feeder with a water fountain.
WOpet keeps its shop short, with feeders, fountains, toys and accessories. If you already own a fountain or litter box from one of these makers, it's worth starting with the feeder from the same shop.
Bowls and feeders from the big pet brands
Two big pet brands list feeders as one section of a much wider shop. Petmate files them under Bowls & Feeders, for dogs and for cats, beside food storage and kennels. PetSafe files them under Fountains & Feeders, beside pet doors, fencing and GPS tracking. If you're feeding a dog, these two split their feeder sections into dogs and cats.
Questions before you buy a feeder
- Does my pet eat dry food, wet food or both?
- How many pets will eat from it?
- Do I want the feeder to recognise one pet and not another?
- Will my pet need an RFID tag on its collar?
- Would a matching fountain or litter box from the same maker be useful?
- Which accessories will I need, such as desiccant bags or collar tags?

My advice on picking an automatic feeder
Choose by food first. If your pet eats kibble, start with the dry food feeders. If it eats wet food, look only at the feeders sold for wet meals. And if you've got more than one pet, go straight to the microchip and RFID feeders. Brand comes last.

Frequently asked questions
Can an automatic feeder handle wet food?
Some are sold for it. Two makers here sell feeders described for wet food: a smart wet food feeder called Riko, for fresh-made wet meals, and the Polar smart wet food feeder. Check the product page for the feeder you're looking at.
Which feeders are made for homes with more than one cat?
Three makers here sell them: one sells a Multi-Cat Recognition feeder, one sells a feeder with multi-pet RFID recognition, and one sells microchip feeders beside its microchip cat flaps.
Do I need a collar tag for a multi-pet feeder?
It depends on the maker. One sells RFID pet collar tags for its smart feeders, and another sells microchip feeders beside microchip cat flaps. Check the product page before you buy.
Do these makers sell water fountains too?
Yes. Fountains sit next to feeders in several of these shops, one big pet brand lists fountains and feeders together, and one sells an all-in-one system with a feeder and water fountain.
Are there automatic feeders for dogs?
Some makers here sell for both. Two big pet brands split their feeder sections into dogs and cats, one small shop says it's designed for all dog and cat owners, and one maker lets you shop by pet type.
Can I buy a feeder and litter box from the same maker?
Yes. Several makers here sell both, including an all-in-one cat care system with a litter box, feeder and water fountain, and EcoSystem sets from one cat brand.
