The best AI visibility tools in 2026 are Otterly.AI for an easy starting point, Peec AI for day-to-day tracking of brands and competitors, and Profound for large brands. If you already use an SEO suite, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit and Ahrefs Brand Radar add AI tracking to it. ZipTie, LLMrefs, Rankscale and Scrunch are also worth a look.
Plenty of small businesses rank well on Google, have good reviews and still never come up when someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation in their niche. A competitor gets named instead, and nobody on the team knows why. That gap is the reason AI visibility tools have grown so fast.
These tools track whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and other AI engines mention your brand, which sources they cite, and who they recommend instead of you. I've put together nine of them, based on what each says on its own website. Treat this as a shortlist to trial, not a verdict.
I've written a separate roundup of GEO and AEO tools, which leans towards optimising your site. This list is about measurement: the tools that tell you where you stand, so you can see whether your work is paying off.
What AI visibility tools track
Most AI visibility tools work in a similar way. You give them a list of prompts, the kind of questions your customers ask, and they run those prompts through AI engines on a schedule. Then they record what comes back. The main things they measure are:
- Mentions: whether your brand is named in the answer.
- Citations: whether the AI links to your website as a source, and which page.
- Share of voice: how often you appear compared with competitors across all your prompts.
- Position: where you appear in the answer. First recommendation is worth more than a passing mention.
- Sentiment: whether the AI describes you positively, neutrally or negatively.
- Sources: which other websites the AI relies on for your topic, which shows you where to earn coverage.
One thing to know up front: AI answers vary. Ask the same question twice and you may get two different answers. That's why these tools run prompts repeatedly and report trends. A single screenshot proves very little.

The best AI visibility tools
1. Otterly.AI
Otterly.AI is an AI search monitoring tool. It tracks your brand across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and other engines, and records every domain and URL cited in the answers. It also includes a GEO audit with crawlability checks and recommendations.
Who it suits: small businesses, consultants and agencies who want to start tracking AI visibility without a big platform or a long setup.
What stands out: it's one of the most accessible tools in the category, and the citation tracking is detailed. Seeing exactly which pages AI engines quote is useful for deciding what to improve. It also has agency features for managing several clients.
Watch out for: entry plans track a limited number of prompts, so choose them carefully. Twenty well-chosen prompts are worth more than a hundred random ones.
2. Peec AI
Peec AI is an AI search analytics platform for marketing teams. It tracks how your brand shows up across AI engines, which sources each engine cites, and which competitors appear alongside you. It suggests competitors automatically once they've been mentioned with you, and you can add your own.
Who it suits: in-house marketing teams and agencies who want to check AI visibility regularly and share the data across a team.
What stands out: the sources and citations view, which shows the exact URLs and domains behind each answer. That turns a vague worry about AI into a list of websites to target with PR and content.
Watch out for: it's built for regular use. If you only want to check your visibility once a quarter, a lighter tool may be enough.
3. Profound
Profound is an AI visibility platform aimed at larger brands. It tracks how brands appear across a wide range of AI engines and adds deeper analysis of AI answers, including data on the kinds of questions people ask AI and how AI crawlers access your site.
Who it suits: enterprise marketing teams and global brands with many products, markets and competitors to track.
What stands out: the depth of analysis. It's widely seen as the leader for large organisations that need detailed answer intelligence and reporting for senior stakeholders.
Watch out for: it's priced and built for enterprise. For most small businesses it's more than you need.
4. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit tracks how your brand is represented across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Its brand performance reports show share of voice and sentiment, and it generates a set of prompts based on your domain and location.
Who it suits: businesses and agencies already working in Semrush who want AI tracking alongside their SEO data.
What stands out: convenience. Having AI visibility next to your keyword rankings and site audits makes it easier to see how the two relate, and the automatic prompt set helps you get started.
Watch out for: reports update on a schedule rather than daily, and specialist tools go deeper on citations and prompts. It's best as part of a Semrush setup, not a reason to start one.
5. Ahrefs Brand Radar
Ahrefs Brand Radar tracks brand mentions and citations across AI indexes including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. It draws on a very large database of prompts, so you can explore where you appear without writing every prompt yourself. Ahrefs also offers a free AI visibility checker.
Who it suits: SEO teams and agencies already using Ahrefs, and anyone who wants broad discovery rather than tracking a short prompt list.
What stands out: the scale of the prompt database and the split between mentions and citations. It can show you conversations where your brand appears that you'd never have thought to track.
Watch out for: it's a premium add-on to Ahrefs. If you don't already use Ahrefs, a standalone tracker will be simpler to start with.
6. ZipTie
ZipTie tracks how your brand appears in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. It says it tracks what real users see, rather than relying only on API results, and it follows trends in mentions, sentiment and citations. It also includes a content optimisation module with recommendations.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Who it suits: SEO professionals and marketers who care most about Google AI Overviews and want recommendations alongside the tracking.
What stands out: the focus on real user results. AI answers seen through an API can differ from what people see in the product, so this is a sensible approach.
Watch out for: it covers fewer engines than some others. If you need Gemini, Copilot or Claude tracked too, check coverage first.
7. LLMrefs
LLMrefs is a keyword-first AI search tracker. You enter keywords, and it expands them into sets of prompts, then tracks share of voice, rank and citations across 10 or more AI engines. It also offers free AI SEO utilities.
Who it suits: SEO people who think in keywords and want AI tracking that fits the way they already plan content.
What stands out: the keyword-led approach, which makes it easy to connect AI visibility to your existing content plan. There's a free plan with one tracked keyword, enough to see how it works.
Watch out for: the free plan is only a taster. Real tracking needs the paid plan, so choose your keywords carefully.
8. Rankscale
Rankscale is an AI visibility platform that tracks brand mentions, positioning and cited sources across a wide range of AI engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.
Who it suits: agencies and SEO teams who want broad engine coverage in one dashboard.
What stands out: the number of engines it covers. If your customers use a mix of AI tools, broad coverage stops you from optimising for one engine and missing the rest.
Watch out for: broad coverage means more data. Decide in advance which engines matter most to your customers, or the reports can become noise.
9. Scrunch
Scrunch is an AI search visibility and optimisation platform. As well as monitoring how AI engines present your brand, it offers an Agent Experience Platform, which serves a structured, AI-friendly version of your site to AI agents while human visitors see your normal site.
Who it suits: brands and agencies who want to track visibility and act on it in the same platform.
What stands out: the combination of tracking and a technical fix. Many tools tell you there's a problem. Scrunch also offers a way to change what AI crawlers see.
Watch out for: serving different content to AI agents is a technical change. Make sure your developer understands how it works before you switch it on.
How to choose an AI visibility tool
Start with where you already work and how much you want to track.
- You're a small business trying this for the first time: Otterly.AI, or the LLMrefs free plan to get a feel for it.
- You already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs: try their AI tools first before adding another subscription.
- You're a marketing team that will check this every week: Peec AI.
- Google AI Overviews are your main concern: ZipTie.
- You manage visibility for many clients: Otterly.AI, Peec AI or Rankscale.
- You're a large brand with complex reporting needs: Profound.
Whatever you choose, the prompts matter more than the tool. Write prompts the way your customers ask questions, not the way you'd search on Google. Include questions where you'd expect to be recommended, comparison questions against your competitors, and questions about your brand by name. Then leave them alone for a few months so the trend means something.
If you'd rather start without a subscription, my guide to running an AI citation audit shows you how to check what ChatGPT and Perplexity say about your business by hand. It's also worth reading how to track your AI visibility and how to measure the ROI of AI search visibility before you commit to a tool, so you know what good looks like.
What to do with the data
Tracking on its own doesn't change anything. The useful part is what you do next:
- Look at the sources. If AI engines keep citing the same review sites, directories or articles, that's where you need to be mentioned.
- Fix the pages AI quotes. Make sure the pages being cited give a clear, accurate, up-to-date answer.
- Answer the questions you're missing. If competitors appear for a question and you don't, create content that answers it plainly.
- Correct mistakes. If AI describes you wrongly, update your own site, your profiles and anywhere else that carries the old information.
This is the work I do for clients through my AI SEO services, and it's where the tracking starts to pay for itself.

Frequently asked questions
What are AI visibility tools?
AI visibility tools track how AI engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews talk about your brand. They run a set of prompts regularly and record whether you're mentioned, whether your site is cited, how you compare with competitors and which sources the AI relies on.
Can I track my brand in ChatGPT for free?
You can check by hand by asking ChatGPT the questions your customers ask, and recording the answers over time. Some tools help too: LLMrefs has a free plan with one keyword, and Ahrefs offers a free AI visibility checker. For ongoing tracking across many prompts, you'll usually need a paid tool.
Why do AI visibility results change so much?
AI engines generate a fresh answer each time, so results vary between runs, locations and even times of day. That's why good tools run prompts repeatedly and show trends over weeks rather than single results.
Is AI visibility the same as SEO?
They overlap but aren't the same. Good SEO helps, because many AI engines draw on web search results. But AI answers also depend on mentions across the web, reviews and how clearly your content answers questions. You can rank well on Google and still be missing from AI answers.
How many prompts should I track?
Start small. Twenty to fifty prompts that reflect real customer questions will tell you more than hundreds of generic ones. Add more once you know which topics matter most.
