An AI press release generator turns your news into a draft release with a headline, opening paragraph, quotes and boilerplate, so you start from structure instead of a blank page. Some are free single-purpose writers, some sit inside a newswire, and some are part of full PR software. Nine options follow in no particular order.
A press release has a shape journalists expect: the news first, the proof second, the quote third, the background last. Most first attempts get the order wrong.
These nine tools get the shape right in seconds, which leaves you free to fix the substance. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from the vendor's own website, read this week. If you're also thinking about search, my piece on digital PR with SEO connects the two.
AI press release generators at a glance
I checked the free plan column on each tool's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the site names a free plan, a free version, a free account, a free edition, a free tool or an open source release. Trial only means a time-limited trial. Not stated means the pages I read named neither, even where there's a button inviting you to try it, so check the vendor's page before you sign up.

Why accuracy decides whether your release gets used
Clause 1 of the Independent Press Standards Organisation's Editors' Code of Practice says the press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the text.
Editors who sign up to the Code have to check what they print. An AI-written release that makes a claim you can't back up, or a headline the body doesn't support, gives them a reason to bin it. Check every fact, number and quote in the draft against something you can show a journalist.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Free writer, newswire tool or PR suite?
A free writer is fine for a first draft you'll edit and send yourself.
A newswire tool drafts the release and offers to distribute it, which helps if you need wide pickup.
A PR suite adds media lists, a newsroom and pitch tracking, for anyone who sends releases often and wants to know who opened them.
Questions to ask before AI writes your release
- Does it ask for the facts, or invent them?
- Can you edit the headline and quotes freely?
- Does it follow a standard release structure?
- Can you add your own boilerplate and contact details?
- Will your quotes still sound like a real person?
- Does it help you find the right journalists afterwards?
Signs an AI press release tool would help
- The blank page wins every time. Start from a draft.
- Your news is buried in paragraph four. Lead with it.
- Releases take a week to write. Draft in minutes.
- Quotes sound stiff. Rewrite them in your voice.

My plain advice on AI press release tools
Give the generator three things it can't make up: the news in one sentence, one number that proves it matters, and a quote you'd say out loud. Then rewrite the quote anyway, because that's the line a journalist is most likely to use and AI quotes all sound alike.
When the release is ready, my media outreach writing formula helps with the pitch email that goes with it.
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI press release generator?
It's a tool that turns your news into a draft press release with a headline, opening, quotes and boilerplate, ready for you to edit.
Can AI write a good press release?
It can write a well-structured one. The news value, the facts and the quotes still have to come from you.
Is there a free AI press release generator?
Yes, several tools let you draft a release free, some without an account. Check the free plan column above and confirm on each vendor's site.
Do journalists mind AI-written press releases?
They mind releases that are vague, inaccurate or obviously generic. A clear, true and specific release gets read, however it was drafted.
What should a press release include?
A headline, a dateline, the news in the first paragraph, supporting detail, at least one quote, boilerplate about your business and a media contact.
Should I distribute a release or pitch it directly?
For most small businesses, a short personal pitch to the right journalist works better than wide distribution. Use both if the news is big.
