Best AI Agents for Marketing (2026): 10 Tools Compared

AI agents for marketing come in three kinds: agents built into a marketing platform you may already use, builder platforms where you assemble your own agent, and specialists that do one job such as ads or content. Choose the kind that matches the job you want off your plate, and keep a human approving anything customers see. Ten options follow in no particular order.

Every marketing tool seems to have an agent now, and the word has stopped meaning much. For a team of one to ten, the useful question isn't whether a tool has an agent, it's what that agent does without you and what it still needs you for.

The ten tools below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order. Each description uses the vendor's own words from its own pages, read as of Nov 2026, and I've kept to what each page says the agent does.

Zapier Agents

Best for: Anyone whose marketing lives across lots of apps and who wants custom AI agents fed with live business data, working on command or in the background.

Platform agents, agent builders and single-job specialists

'Agent' means three different things on these pages, and mixing them up is how teams end up with the wrong tool. The first kind lives inside a marketing platform. ActiveCampaign's page says a team of AI agents handles email, SMS and WhatsApp, and HubSpot's page is headed Run, Build, and Manage Your AI Agents, under the name Agent Hub. If your contacts and campaigns already sit in one of these, the agents work on data that's already there.

The second kind is a builder. Zapier's page says you can create your own AI agent that works across thousands of apps, Gumloop calls itself a multiplayer AI agent builder, Relevance AI builds specialist agents for sales, customer success, marketing and HR, and Lindy calls itself an AI employee. These give you more freedom, and more setting up.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

The third kind does one job. Madgicx's page describes an agentic Meta ads manager. AirOps and Averi focus on content and on showing up in AI search answers, and Jasper says it orchestrates agents for end-to-end marketing workflows. A specialist is often the quickest to get working, because the job is already defined for you.

Starter jobs for a marketing agent

  • First drafts. Turning a webinar, a call transcript or a long article into draft emails and social posts that a person then edits.
  • Research briefs. Pulling together what competitors are publishing, so you start a content plan with notes instead of a blank page.
  • Reporting. Summarising campaign or ad results into a short weekly update, with the raw numbers kept to hand for checking.
  • Follow-up. Sorting new leads and drafting the first reply, with a person approving it before it goes.
  • Housekeeping. Tagging contacts, tidying lists and flagging records that need a human look.

Notice what's missing: anything that publishes or spends without a person in the loop. That's where agents can do the most damage, and it's the last job to hand over.

Guardrails before an agent talks to your customers

  • Approval first. Start with every customer-facing message waiting for a person to approve it, and loosen that only once you trust the output.
  • Brand voice notes. Give the agent a short document on tone, words you never use and claims you can't make.
  • Tight access. Connect only the apps and data the job needs, and use the access controls the platform offers.
  • A log you can read. Make sure you can see what the agent did, when, and why, so mistakes are easy to trace.
  • One owner. Someone on the team checks the agent's work every week, even when it's running smoothly.

Questions to ask an agent vendor before you sign up

  1. What exactly does the agent do on its own, and what does it hand back to a person?
  2. Which of my existing tools does it connect to, and what can it change in them?
  3. Can I set it to draft only, with nothing sent or published without approval?
  4. How does it learn my brand voice, and can I edit what it's been told?
  5. What happens to my data, and can I export my agents and their history if I leave?
  6. Can I try it on one small job before rolling it out to the team?

My advice for a small team trying marketing agents

Start with the kind of agent that fits where your marketing already lives. If your contacts and campaigns sit in one platform, try the agents built into it before adding anything new. If your work is spread across lots of apps, a builder gives you room to connect them, but set aside time to set it up. If one job is eating your week, such as ads or content, a specialist is the fastest win. Whichever you pick, keep a person approving anything a customer will see, and give it one job at a time.

If you'd rather build an agent of your own, my list of AI agent builders goes further, and for agents on the sales side there's my roundup of AI sales assistants.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI agent for marketing?

It's AI software that carries out marketing tasks with some independence, such as drafting emails, running ad changes or researching content, rather than only answering a prompt. How much it does alone depends on the tool and on how you set it up.

How is an AI agent different from an AI writing tool?

A writing tool waits for a prompt and returns text. An agent can take a goal, work through several steps, use connected apps and hand back a result, often on a schedule.

Can a small business use AI marketing agents?

Yes. Many are built into platforms small businesses already use, and builder tools let you start with a single job. Begin small and keep a person checking the output.

Should an AI agent publish or send without review?

Not at the start. Set it to draft only and approve each customer-facing message until you've seen enough good work to trust it on that specific job.

Do I need to build my own marketing agent?

Not usually. Agents built into marketing platforms and single-job specialists cover common tasks. Building your own makes sense when your work spans lots of apps that no single platform connects.

What's a safe first job for a marketing agent?

Something internal, such as summarising results, drafting a content brief or tagging contacts. Mistakes there are easy to spot and fix before they reach a customer.
