Asana Pricing: Personal, Starter, Advanced and Enterprise Plans

As of October 2026, Asana's Personal plan is free for one or two people. Starter is $10.99 per user a month billed annually or $13.49 billed monthly, and Advanced is $24.99 per user a month billed annually or $30.49 billed monthly. Enterprise pricing is on request from Asana's sales team.

Asana is one of the project management tools I see most often in small agencies and marketing teams. Its plan prices are easy to find, but two things change what you'll pay: the free plan stops at two people, and Asana's newer AI features are charged per request once you go past what's included.

What the free Personal plan includes

  • Two users can collaborate for free.
  • Unlimited tasks and projects.
  • List, board and calendar views.
  • Unlimited storage, with a 100MB limit per file.
  • Status updates and time tracking through integrations.
  • 100+ free integrations with the tools you already use.

The limit to notice is people, not projects. Asana's comparison table says Personal allows up to 2 seats per project and team, while every paid plan lets you add unlimited members. So it's ideal for a solo business owner working with one assistant, and too small the moment a third person needs access.

Starter: where most small teams land

Starter removes the seat limit and adds the views that make Asana feel like a real project tool:

  • Timeline and Gantt views for schedules and task dependencies.
  • Reporting dashboards.
  • Unlimited automations for routine tasks and handoffs.
  • Forms that turn requests into tasks.
  • Custom templates and custom fields.
  • Unlimited free guests, so clients and partners can collaborate without a paid seat.

That last point is easy to miss and useful for agencies. Inviting a client as a free guest means you don't pay for a seat every time a customer needs to see a project.

Advanced: portfolios, goals and capacity

Advanced is built for teams running several projects at once. It adds unlimited portfolios, goals that connect daily work to bigger objectives, resource management to balance workloads, approvals and proofing, branching forms, time tracking that compares estimated with actual effort, and integrations with Salesforce, Tableau and Power BI.

How Asana charges for AI

Every paid plan includes Asana AI, including AI Teammates, Asana Dash and AI Studio, a no-code builder for AI automations. Asana's comparison table shows AI Studio credits included per billing account each month, rising from 50K on Starter to 75K on Advanced and 200K on the Enterprise plans.

Beyond what's included, Asana charges for AI requests in two ways, and both are listed on its pricing page:

  • Usage packs: prepaid AI requests at $0.50 per request, billed upfront, which last for your full contract term with no monthly resets.
  • Pay as you go: $0.60 per AI request, billed monthly, with a monthly spend cap you can set in the product.

Asana says administrative tasks with Asana Dash, like prioritising your day or analysing data, are included at no extra charge. Annual customers can use their AI requests at any point during the contract.

Monthly or annual billing?

Asana's annual price is lower on both paid plans, but you're paying for a year up front per user. If your team size changes often, monthly billing gives you room to add and remove people without being locked in. Once your headcount is steady and you know Asana is the tool you'll keep, switch to annual and pocket the difference.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Who needs to edit work, and who only needs to see it? Viewers and clients can often be guests.
  • Do you need timelines and dashboards now, or just tasks and lists?
  • Will anyone use AI Studio or the AI Teammates heavily enough to go past the included allowance?
  • Is anyone already paying for a separate time tracker or reporting tool that Advanced could replace?

Answering these honestly usually points to one plan, and it's often a cheaper one than the sales page suggests.

How to choose an Asana plan

  1. Count the people who need to edit work, not just view it.
  2. One or two people: stay on Personal.
  3. Three or more, or you need timelines and dashboards: Starter.
  4. Running several client projects at once and managing workloads: Advanced.
  5. Pay annually once you're sure, because the monthly price is higher on both paid plans.
  6. Set a spend cap before switching on pay-as-you-go AI.

My verdict

For a solo business owner, Asana Personal is one of the better free plans around, as long as you don't need more than one collaborator. For a team, Starter at $10.99 per user a month billed annually is the sweet spot, and the free guest access makes it good value for client work. Only move to Advanced when you're managing portfolios and capacity, and keep an eye on AI requests once your included allowance runs out.
