The Amazon Influencer Program requires a YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok account, and Instagram or Facebook applicants must use a business account. Amazon publishes no fixed follower minimum; it reviews your follower count alongside other engagement metrics. Brands and media companies are pointed to Amazon Associates instead.
The Amazon Influencer Program sounds like it should come with a simple checklist, and creators are often surprised when it doesn't. Amazon tells you which accounts it accepts and what it looks at, but it doesn't publish a follower number. Here's what its own pages say, so you can judge your chances before you apply.
Amazon Influencer Program requirements, as Amazon states them
Amazon's influencer page answers the qualification question directly. It accepts applications from all types of influencers, provided you have one of these:
- A YouTube account
- An Instagram account, set up as a business account
- A Facebook account, set up as a business account
- A TikTok account
When it reviews your application, Amazon says it looks at the number of followers you have plus other engagement metrics. That's the whole published standard. Any exact follower minimum you've seen quoted elsewhere is someone's guess, not Amazon's rule.
There's also a clear line about who the program is for. Amazon describes an influencer as a content creator who inspires an audience through social media. If you're a media company or a brand that wants to send traffic to Amazon, it says you should apply to the Amazon Associates Program instead.
What Amazon's review is looking for
Because followers are only part of the picture, engagement does a lot of the work. Amazon's wording suggests it wants to see that people respond to what you post, not just that they follow you. In practice that means comments, saves, shares and views that make sense for your audience size.
A few things help a real review go your way:
- Apply with your strongest account, the one where your audience is most active.
- Make sure it's public and that recent posts show the kind of content you'd bring to Amazon, such as product demos, reviews or roundups.
- On Instagram or Facebook, switch to a business account before you apply, since Amazon requires it.
- Keep your bio and recent posts clear about what you cover, so a reviewer can see your niche at a glance.
If you're not accepted the first time, keep building engagement and try again later. Amazon doesn't publish a waiting period for reapplying on the pages I checked.
How the Amazon Influencer Program pays
Amazon describes the program as an extension of its Associates program. You earn commission when your followers make qualifying purchases through your affiliate links or your storefront, and the amount depends on the products sold. Commissions are earned once an order has shipped.
What makes it different from plain Associates is your own page on Amazon, with a vanity URL in the form amazon.com/shop/handle. Amazon points out how useful that is where you can't add clickable links, such as Instagram captions or when you mention it out loud in a video.
Commission rates come from Amazon's standard table. A few examples from it:
| Product category | Standard commission | Source checked |
|---|---|---|
| Luxury Beauty | 10.00% | Amazon Associates commission table |
| Physical Books, Kitchen, Automotive | 4.50% | Amazon Associates commission table |
| Toys, Home, Beauty, Baby Products | 3.00% | Amazon Associates commission table |
| Grocery, Health and Personal Care | 1.00% | Amazon Associates commission table |
| Gift Cards | 0.00% | Amazon Associates commission table |
| All Other Categories | 4.00% | Amazon Associates commission table |
Your own rates will also appear in your reports. Check the full table before you plan content, because some popular categories pay far less than others.
Requirements for Amazon onsite video commissions
Once you're in, there's a second set of requirements if you want your videos shown on Amazon itself. Influencers with an active storefront can upload videos through Creator Hub. After you've had 10 videos approved by moderation and completed sign-up for onsite commissions, Amazon says shoppers may also find your videos on the product detail pages of the items you feature.

That's where many creators see the program pay off, because a shopper already browsing a product can find your review there. It does mean the 10-video bar is worth treating as your first goal after approval.
Disclosure and payment rules to know
Amazon requires a clear disclosure near any affiliate link or product review. It gives examples such as (paid link), #ad and #CommissionsEarned, and it shouldn't be hidden where people have to hunt for it. You also need to identify yourself as an Amazon Associate in the wording its Operating Agreement sets out, and on social media that statement must be tied to your account.
For payment, Amazon's help page says commission is paid by direct deposit, an Amazon.com gift certificate or check approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which it was earned. It pays monthly once your balance meets the minimum threshold, and it needs your tax information on file first. Tax rules depend on where you live, so check with an accountant or your tax authority.
Ways creators add to Amazon Influencer income
Amazon commission rarely stands alone. Many creators combine it with brand deals, where a company pays for a dedicated post, and with platform programs elsewhere. If YouTube is your main channel, my guide to the YouTube Shopping affiliate program explains how tagging products inside YouTube works and where it's available.
If you're on Instagram, my look at what brand deals pay mid-sized Instagram creators in India gives a sense of the other side of the income. And if Pinterest drives your product traffic, my guide to how Pinterest pays creators covers that route.
