In the UAE, Google's table offers all three main AdSense routes: check, EFT and wire transfer, with Hyperwallet unavailable. EFT pays in dirhams after a test deposit, and Google sets three hundred and fifty dirhams as the payment threshold, while the IRS treaty list has no UAE entry for YouTube tax.
The UAE gets one of the widest payment menus in Google's AdSense tables, which is good news if you've been told you'll have to wait for a cheque. It also has two quirks worth knowing before you build a plan around it: the dirham thresholds, and the tax treaty position. Here's what Google's own pages say.
Three routes open to you in the UAE
Google's payment-method table marks the United Arab Emirates yes for check, yes for EFT and yes for wire transfer, with Hyperwallet marked no. The row is the same for AdSense and for YouTube. Plenty of countries only get one or two of those, so a UAE publisher can pick the route that suits their bank rather than accepting whatever is offered.
Google also says your bank must be in the same country as the address in your payments settings. So a UAE address and a UAE bank account go together, and a Dubai flat with a bank account somewhere else won't work.
Dirham EFT: the quickest-looking option
Google's EFT page lists the United Arab Emirates with the United Arab Emirates dirham as the currency, and a test deposit required. It describes EFT as a direct deposit to your bank account in local currency.
The test deposit is a small amount, usually less than one US dollar, that may take one to five business days to appear. You then pick the amount in AdSense to verify the account. If you set EFT up after the 20th of the month, Google says it can't guarantee EFT payment for that month's cycle, so do it early.
The dirham figures in Google's threshold table
| Threshold | Dirham figure in Google's table |
|---|---|
| Tax information | Not applicable |
| Payment method selection | 35 dirhams |
| Payment | 350 dirhams |
| Cancelation | 35 dirhams |
The numbers look big next to a US dollar threshold of one hundred, but Google sets them by currency, and the dirham line is simply its local equivalent. You can pick a payment method at thirty-five dirhams and you're paid when outstanding earnings reach three hundred and fifty, as long as there are no holds.
If you choose a cheque in the UAE
The UAE is one of the places where a cheque is still on offer, so it's worth knowing the rules Google gives. All checks are issued by Citibank. They're for deposit only, which means you can't cash one over the counter. Most publishers receive them two to four weeks after the mailing date, and the delivery address has to be in the same country as the address in your payment settings.
- Ask your bank first whether it accepts these checks and how long it takes to clear them.
- For a US dollar check, Google says your bank needs a correspondent relationship with Citibank.
- If a check hasn't arrived or been cashed after sixty days, a Reissue payment link appears on your Transactions page.
- A check not deposited within twelve months is credited back to your account and payments are put on hold.
For most people the cheque is the slow lane, and EFT or wire is simpler. But it's good to know the fallback exists.
Wire from abroad: what to ask your UAE bank
Google's wire page says it sends earnings in US dollars or euros, depending on your account currency, by international wire. The details Google asks for depend on your country, and the page tells publishers to contact their bank and ask for instructions on receiving a wire from abroad. Do that before you enter anything, and copy the details exactly as your bank gives them.
Payment calendar, identity and PIN
Google issues payments between the 21st and the 26th of the month, and any payment-detail changes have to be done by the 20th. After issue, allow up to seven business days.

Identity verification has a threshold of zero, so it comes before ads and payments. Address verification is ten US dollars or the local equivalent. The PIN is a six-digit number mailed to your payments address by international standard mail, with no tracking, and usually takes three weeks. Because there's no tracking, check that your address is one where ordinary post is delivered, and don't wait until the fourth month to sort it.
Tax: the UAE isn't on the IRS treaty list
The IRS list of United States income tax treaties has no entry for the United Arab Emirates. That matters for YouTubers, because YouTube says creators outside the US who submit tax info face withholding between zero and thirty on earnings from US viewers, depending on whether their country has a treaty with the US. YouTube also says to submit by the tenth of December each year.
I can't tell you what rate will apply to you, and Google can't either, since it says it can't give tax advice. Please ask a tax adviser who knows your residency.
