The best monday CRM alternative depends on how your team sells. If you want a plain deal pipeline, a classic sales CRM is the closest swap. If customers talk to you on WhatsApp or Instagram, a messenger-first CRM fits better, and if you also run projects and send invoices, a combined tool saves you a second login.
Most people who start looking past monday CRM aren't unhappy with the idea of a CRM. They're finding that a sales tool built on a wider work platform asks more of them than they need, or less of the thing they do every day. Its own page describes it as an AI-led CRM for running the sales cycle on one connected revenue platform, with AI agents built in.
If that breadth is the reason you're leaving, the answer usually sits in one of four styles of CRM. The nine tools below are sorted into those styles first, then listed in no particular order, and nothing is ranked or linked. Read the style that matches how you sell before the list.
Four styles of CRM, and who each suits
Classic pipeline CRMs. These are the closest like-for-like swap: deals move through stages, contacts and companies sit behind them, and reporting is built around the pipeline. Zoho CRM is the broadest of this group, a customisable suite that its page says runs customer operations on one platform. Alongside it sit a pipeline-first tool and a free CRM that lives inside a much larger marketing and sales platform, and the last section explains why that difference matters before you commit.
Simple CRMs for owner-run businesses. If your team is two or three people and the CRM is something you open between jobs, a simpler tool is often the better choice. Teamgate pitches itself on having no feature clutter and a quick set-up. The other option here is Zoho's small-business CRM, which keeps leads, deals, emails, calls and WhatsApp messages in one place, and is a separate, lighter product from Zoho's full CRM.
Messenger-led and AI-native CRMs. Some businesses barely send email. Their leads arrive on WhatsApp, Instagram or TikTok, and a CRM that treats chat as an afterthought slows them down. Kommo is built for messenger-based sales, automating those conversations while it manages the pipeline. Breakcold covers email, calling, LinkedIn, Telegram and WhatsApp, and its page says it connects to Claude and other AI tools through MCP, which suits teams already working with AI assistants.
CRM with projects and invoicing. Agencies and service businesses often came to monday.com for its project boards and added the CRM later. If that's you, leaving the CRM shouldn't mean splitting your work across two apps. Flowlu brings project management and CRM into one platform so deals, delivery and client details connect. Teamleader Focus goes a step further, putting quotations and invoices in the same tool as the CRM and projects.

My advice: choose by how your customers reach you
Start with the channel, not the feature list. If deals arrive by email and phone and move through clear stages, a classic pipeline CRM will feel familiar within a day. If most conversations happen in chat apps, try a messenger-first CRM before anything else, because bolting chat onto an email CRM rarely works well. If your sales and delivery are the same people, keep them in one tool with projects and invoicing.
Then shortlist two, not five. Rebuild one real pipeline in each with your own stages, add a handful of live deals, and use both for a week of normal work. The one you open without being reminded is usually the right one. If you're comparing more broadly, my list of Attio alternatives covers newer, data-led CRMs, and my guide to Bitrix24 alternatives looks at all-in-one suites that mix CRM with projects and communication.
Free tier or free trial? Check before your data goes in
This is the part most comparisons skip. A free tier and a free trial sound alike, but they lead to very different places once your contacts and deals are inside. monday CRM's page offers new users a trial, and so do the pages for Pipedrive and Bigin. HubSpot's own CRM page says its free CRM has no expiry and needs no credit card.
Neither is better by default. A trial often gives you the full product for a short time, while a lasting free tier may hold back features you'll want later. What matters is knowing which one you're on before you import anything, so the end of the trial doesn't arrive in the middle of a busy month.
- Check on each vendor's own page whether it offers a lasting free tier or a time-limited trial.
- Find out what happens to your data and automations when the trial ends: read-only, locked or removed.
- Ask whether you can export contacts, deals and notes at any point, including after the trial.
- Note which features you'd lose by staying on a free tier, such as automations, reporting or extra users.
Ten minutes on those questions saves a rushed decision later, and it's the fairest way to compare tools that start from very different offers.

Frequently asked questions
Why do people look for monday CRM alternatives?
Usually because they want a simpler pipeline tool, a CRM built around chat apps, or a CRM that sits alongside projects and invoicing, rather than a sales product on a wider work platform.
What's the difference between a free CRM and a free trial?
A free CRM or free tier lasts as long as you use it, usually with limits. A free trial gives you a fuller product for a set time and then asks you to choose a plan or lose access.
Which kind of CRM suits a business that sells on WhatsApp?
A messenger-first CRM, which treats chat conversations as the main channel and manages the pipeline around them. Email-first CRMs can connect chat, but it's rarely as smooth.
Can I move my data out of monday CRM?
Most CRMs let you export contacts, deals and activity as a file you can import elsewhere. Check what your plan allows and export a test file before you start moving across.
Should agencies use a CRM with projects built in?
If the same people sell and deliver the work, it often helps, because deals, projects and invoices stay linked. Larger teams with separate sales and delivery may prefer a dedicated CRM.
Is a simple CRM enough for a small business?
For many owner-run businesses, yes. If you mainly need to track leads, deals and follow-ups, a simple CRM is quicker to set up and more likely to get used every day.
