Best Travel Expense Management Software (2026): 10 Compared

The best travel expense management software depends on which end of the job you start from. Some products on this list began as corporate travel platforms and added expenses, some are expense tools that now book travel, and some are spend platforms with cards, expenses and travel together. Decide which side matters most to your team, then check what each maker lists.

Business travel comes with two jobs: booking the trip, and sorting out the receipts afterwards. The products on this list try to put both in one place, but they don't come at it from the same direction, and that's the bit worth understanding first.

This list sticks to what each maker's own website says, read on 2 Nov 2026 (as of Nov 2026). It's alphabetical and in no particular order. I've left out every savings line, review count and ranking claim, and kept to what each product says it covers.

Travel first, expenses first, or spend first?

Here's the thing to check before anything else: which end the vendor starts from. Navan calls itself a 'Corporate Travel Management Platform' and adds expense and payments. Expensify lets you 'book flights, hotels, cars, and rail right in the app' beside your receipts. TravelBank pitches 'Corporate Travel Management & Expenses for Your Team', and Rydoo lists travel as one section of an expense and AP product.

That starting point changes what each product leads with, so match it to whoever owns the job in your business: a travel manager, a finance team or both.

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  • Travel platforms adding expenses: booking and trip management come first, with expense tools beside them.
  • Expense tools adding travel: receipts and expense reports come first, with booking inside the app.
  • Spend platforms with both: cards, expenses, invoices and travel on one platform.

Cards, policies and the booking screen

If you want company cards and travel in one place, look at the spend platforms. Payhawk puts travel beside cards, expenses, AP and procurement, and says its travel tools let staff 'book within policy'. Zoho Expense lets people book and manage travel 'with built-in policy controls' inside the booking experience. Perk talks about 'one policy layer, one data layer, one AI across travel, spend, and events'.

Those are the makers' own words, so ask each one to show you how its policy settings work with your rules. A demo account's rules won't tell you much.

Enterprise programmes and travel management companies

If your company already books through a travel management company, look at the products that mention one. ExpenseAnywhere's page carries partnership news with travel management firms, and SAP Concur lists TMC solutions beside its travel products. Happay pairs travel and expense analytics with its expense and travel management products, which suits a team that wants reports across both.

Points to settle before you choose a travel and expense tool

  1. Who owns the job here: a travel manager, the finance team or both?
  2. Do we book through a travel management company, or don't we?
  3. Do we want company cards in the same product?
  4. Which accounting, ERP or HR tools must it connect to?
  5. Do we need mileage and per diem as well as trips?
  6. Will staff use it on a phone while they travel?

My advice on travel and expense software

Start from the side of the job that hurts most. If booking trips is the headache, look at the travel platforms that added expenses. If receipts and expense reports pile up, start with the expense tools that now book travel. If you want cards, invoices and travel in one place, the spend platforms are where to look. Then ask each maker to walk you through a trip from booking to expense report, using your own policy.

For expenses without the travel side, see my list of the best expense management software, or for something lighter, these expense tracker apps.

Frequently asked questions

What is travel expense management software?

On the pages here, it's software that puts business travel booking and expense handling in one product. Some makers start from travel and add expenses, some start from expenses and add booking, and some fold both into a wider spend platform.

Can I book flights and hotels inside an expense app?

Some say so. One expense app says you can book flights, hotels, cars and rail right in the app, and another lists booking flights, hotels and cars with approvals.

Which of these include company cards?

Several list cards. Pages here mention corporate cards, virtual cards, prepaid cards and card management, and one expense app says you can bring your own cards.

Do these tools track mileage?

One product here lists mileage tracking and per diem beside travel booking and expense reports. Check each maker's feature list if mileage matters to your team.

Do these tools work with a travel management company?

Some mention them. One product lists TMC solutions beside its travel products, and another's page carries partnership news with travel management companies.

Is there a mobile app?

Some makers list one. Pages here mention a mobile app beside their expense and travel tools, so check that the app covers both booking and receipts before you roll it out.
