HeyGen is an AI avatar video tool for marketers, trainers and small teams who want presenter-style videos and translation into lots of languages. What decides it, as of Oct 2026, is how the features are spread out: the free plan gives you 3 watermarked videos a month up to 1 minute each, and removing the branding starts at Creator for 29 dollars a month.
Most people weighing up HeyGen want three things: no watermark, a sharp export and room for longer videos. I read HeyGen's own pricing page in its monthly view, and those three things don't turn up on the same plan.
HeyGen tiers, credits and monthly prices
| Plan | Price | What's included | The limit that bites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 dollars | 3 videos a month, Avatar IV and Video Agent access, one Custom Video Avatar, 500+ ready-made presenters, 30+ languages | Videos are watermarked and up to 1 minute each |
| Creator | 29 dollars a month | 600 credits, 1080p export, HeyGen branding removed, a custom video avatar with your own voice and likeness, 175+ languages and dialects, up to 10 hours of text to speech | Credits roll over one month, and 4K export isn't included |
| Pro | 49 dollars a month | 1,000 credits, 4K export, Seedance 2.5, cinematic avatars, videos up to 30 minutes each, faster processing, 16+ hours of text to speech | No shared workspace or SSO on this plan |

Watermark, resolution and length sit on different HeyGen tiers
This is the catch, and it's easy to miss if you only glance at the prices. The free plan is a fair way to try HeyGen, but you're limited to 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute, and every one carries the watermark. That's fine for judging whether you like the avatars and voices. It isn't something you'd put in front of a client.
The first paid step, Creator at 29 dollars a month, is where HeyGen branding comes off and 1080p export arrives. You get 600 credits, and the page says they roll over one month, so a quiet month isn't wasted straight away. What Creator doesn't give you is 4K, Seedance 2.5 or the 30-minute video length. Those start at Pro, at 49 dollars a month with 1,000 credits.
Then there's the team side. If more than one person needs to work in the same place, the shared workspace, SAML/SSO and team seats start at Business, at 149 dollars a month with 1,500 credits, and each extra seat adds 20 dollars a month. So a small team that only wants to share a workspace still ends up on the top published plan.
The simplest way to read it: Creator pays for clean videos, Pro pays for quality and length, and Business pays for working together.
What HeyGen makes for you
HeyGen builds videos around AI avatars. You pick one of the ready-made presenters or make a custom avatar from your own voice and likeness, then turn a script into a talking video. The Video Agent takes on more of the process, and HeyGen Voice covers text to speech, with up to 10 hours on Creator and 16+ hours on Pro. Translation is a big part of the offer, with 30+ languages on the free plan and 175+ languages and dialects from Creator. Pro adds cinematic avatars, which put your avatar into scenes you describe in a text prompt. Business brings the team tools, including a brand kit and asset library, SCORM export for training teams using an LMS, and integrations with n8n, Make, HubSpot and Zapier.
If you're new to avatar videos, I've written a short guide to an AI avatar video workflow, and if reaching other countries is the reason you're here, there's a round-up of AI video translation tools for global audiences too.
Who HeyGen suits, and who'll end up frustrated
It's a good fit for:
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Marketers and trainers who want presenter-style videos without filming themselves every time.
- Small teams that publish in several languages and want translation built in.
- Anyone happy to test the free plan's 3 watermarked videos before paying.
It's a weaker fit for:
- Anyone who needs unbranded video for free, as the watermark stays on the free plan.
- People who want long videos on a low plan, since free videos stop at 1 minute and 30-minute videos start at Pro.
- Teams that need a shared workspace but don't want the 149-dollar Business plan.
HeyGen advice before you pay for a plan
I'd make all 3 free videos first and judge the avatar and voice with the watermark still on. If you like what you see and only need clean 1080p videos for social, Creator is where I'd begin. I'd move to Pro only for 4K, Seedance 2.5 or videos up to 30 minutes, and to Business only once more than one person needs the same workspace. The yearly toggle promises 2 months free, but the figures aren't shown, so please can you check them in your account before you switch.
