Pinterest Chrome Extensions (2026): 10 Listings Compared

Pinterest Chrome extensions save ideas from any site, download images and videos, switch Pinterest to dark mode, hide ads or help you test a Pinterest Tag. Tell the listings apart by who each is offered by, the user count and the ratings count, not the star average alone. Ten follow in no particular order.

Most people want one of a few things from a Pinterest extension: a quick way to save ideas while they browse, a way to download pins and boards, a darker or cleaner Pinterest, or help with the Pinterest Tag on their own site. The ten here cover all of those, and a couple have very similar names.

Every number comes from each extension's Chrome Web Store listing, as of Oct 2026: users, average rating, ratings count, who it's offered by and the last updated date. They're listed alphabetically and in no particular order. If you want Pinterest to send people to your site, my guide on how to drive Pinterest traffic is the place to start.

Type and Good for come from each extension's own listing, as of Oct 2026. None of the ten listings names a free plan, so the last column reads Not stated throughout. Read the listing before you install.

What we looked at on each Pinterest listing

Only what the Chrome Web Store shows: users, the average rating, the ratings count, who it's offered by and when it was last updated. Nothing was installed or scored. Two entries are dark modes with near-identical names, so the publisher is the quickest way to tell them apart.

Millions of users, a low average

Save to Pinterest shows 6,000,000 users but a 2.7 average on 10.1K ratings, as of Oct 2026. Pinterest Dark Mode and Theme shows 20,000 users with a 4.8 average on 74 ratings, and Pin Toolbox shows 2.8 on 290 ratings.

So a huge user count doesn't mean people are happy with an extension, and a high average on a few dozen ratings is thin evidence either way. Read the user count, the average and the ratings count together, then skim the newest reviews.

Which kind of Pinterest extension to choose

  • You save ideas from all over the web: pick a save button extension, and read its recent reviews first.
  • You want images or videos off Pinterest: pick a downloader, and only download pins you're allowed to reuse.
  • You browse Pinterest late at night: pick a dark mode, and check the publisher, since two listings have near-identical names.
  • You're tired of promoted pins: pick an ad and promo remover.
  • You run Pinterest ads to your own site: pick the tag helper offered by Pinterest, Inc.
  • You're studying pins for your own account: pick a sorting or ranking tool, and check when it was last updated.

Telling look-alike Pinterest listings apart

  1. Read the Offered by line under the name. Here it ranges from Pinterest, Inc. to individual developers and small companies.
  2. Compare users and ratings count, not just the average.
  3. Check the last updated date. On this list it runs from September 4, 2024 to October 27, 2026, as of Oct 2026.
  4. Look at the permissions Chrome asks for when you install, and say no if they're wider than the job needs.

If you're using Pinterest to grow a blog, my guide to Pinterest for blogging covers the bigger picture.

Plain advice on Pinterest Chrome extensions

Pick the job first, then the listing. Save buttons, downloaders, dark modes and ad removers all sit under the Pinterest name in the store, and two dark modes share almost the same title, so read who it's offered by before you click Add to Chrome. A large user count is reassuring, but a low average on thousands of ratings is a warning, so read the latest reviews too.

And keep it to the one or two you'll use. Every extension you add can see the pages it's allowed to, so fewer is tidier.

Frequently asked questions

What are Pinterest Chrome extensions?

They're add-ons for the Chrome browser that work with Pinterest, such as save buttons, downloaders, dark modes, ad removers and tag helpers.

Is there an official Pinterest extension for Chrome?

Two listings here name Pinterest as the publisher: the save button is offered by pinterest.com and the tag helper by Pinterest, Inc., as of Oct 2026.

Why does a popular extension have a low rating?

A big user count shows how many people installed it, not how happy they are. One listing here has millions of users and a low average, so read the ratings count and the latest reviews too.

Can I download Pinterest images with a Chrome extension?

Several listings here say they download images, videos and boards. Only download pins you have permission to reuse.

How do I tell the two Pinterest dark mode extensions apart?

Check the Offered by line and the user count. One is offered by Lokesh with 20,000 users and the other has 3,000 users, as of Oct 2026.
