To cancel a Canva subscription you took out on Canva's website or desktop app, go to Settings, then Billing, select Cancel plan and follow the prompts to Cancel subscription. If you paid through Google Play or the App Store, you have to cancel there instead, and as of October 2026 uninstalling the app doesn't cancel anything.
The catch: you cancel where you subscribed, not where you design
This is the reason so many people think they've cancelled and then get charged again. Canva says how you cancel depends on where you originally subscribed. Check your billing email or bank statement to see whether the charge came from Canva, Google, Apple or PayPal, then follow the steps for that platform.
| Where you subscribed | Where you cancel |
|---|---|
| Canva on the web or desktop app | Canva Settings, then Billing |
| Google Play | Google Play Store, Payments & subscriptions |
| App Store | iPhone or iPad Settings, your name, Subscriptions |
You can't cancel a Google Play or App Store subscription inside the Canva app. And deleting the app from your phone does nothing to the plan (source: Canva Help Center).
Cancel a plan you bought directly from Canva
- Log in to the right Canva account or team.
- On the homepage, select your account profile to open the menu.
- Select Settings, then go to Billing.
- On your plan, select Cancel plan.
- Select Continue cancellation.
- Choose why you want to cancel, then select Continue cancellation again.
- Select Cancel subscription.
You'll get a confirmation email once the plan is cancelled. Keep it. If you're charged again, that email is the first thing Canva's own troubleshooting tells you to look for.
Cancel through Google Play or the App Store
Google Play (Android): open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, find your Canva plan, tap Cancel subscription and confirm. Can't see Canva there? You may be signed in to a different Google account, so switch accounts and check again.
App Store (iPhone or iPad): go to Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Canva, then tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
What you keep after cancelling
Cancelling stops future payments, and you keep paid features until the end of your current billing period. After that:
- All your designs stay accessible on Canva Free.
- Your Canva account stays active.
- Affinity stays accessible for free with your Canva account.
Cancelling isn't the same as closing your account. If you want everything gone, that's a separate process, which I've covered in how to delete a Canva account. If you're wondering what you'll still be able to do afterwards, here's what Canva's free plan includes.
Cancelling a Teams or Business plan
Team plans have extra rules. When you cancel Canva Teams or Canva Business, team members lose paid features at the end of the billing period, but all designs, Brand Kit content and shared folders are kept on Canva Free. The workspace moves to the free plan and the team admin stays the account owner.
The big one: cancelling Canva Teams is permanent. Canva says you won't be able to resubscribe to Teams afterwards, and suggests switching to Canva Business instead if you think you'll want a team plan in future. Only owners and administrators can cancel a Canva for Teams plan.
Pause instead of cancelling
If you only need a break, Canva lets you pause a Canva Pro, Canva Teams or Canva Business plan for up to 3 months. There are no charges during the pause, and your plan resumes automatically with an email reminder before it restarts. If you're on an annual plan, you can only pause when you have less than two months until it renews. Pausing isn't available through the iOS App Store.
- Log in to the correct Canva account or team.
- Open your account profile menu and select Settings, then Billing.
- On your plan, select Cancel plan, then Continue cancelation.
- Select I want to pause my subscription, then Continue cancelation.
- Select Pause for 3 months to confirm.
The pause starts when your current billing period ends. Premium features pause too, but you can resume at any time, and you keep free access to Affinity.

Changed your mind?
You can undo a cancellation from the Billing page by selecting the Stay on option for your plan, whether that's Canva Pro, Canva Pro Lite, Canva Teams or Canva Business. It only shows while your subscription is still active, so don't leave it until the period has ended. If the real issue is the size of the bill, switching between monthly and yearly billing is another option: it's done from Billing on the web, not the mobile app, and takes effect from your next billing date. For the current plan prices, see this Canva Pro pricing guide.
Still being charged after you cancelled
Canva lists these causes:
- You have more than one Canva account and only cancelled one. Search your inbox for Canva billing emails under other addresses.
- You subscribed through Google Play or the App Store, so the Canva cancellation didn't apply.
- The cancellation didn't go through. No confirmation email usually means you need to cancel again.
- Your bank kept the subscription alive. Some banks keep recurring payments going even after a card is cancelled or expires, using automatic card-update services.
Timing can look odd too. Canva's billing system runs on UTC, so depending on your time zone a charge can appear a day earlier than you expected, including a day before a free trial ends. Plans renew when your billing period ends, and if a monthly plan renews on a date that doesn't exist next month, like the 31st, it moves to the last day of that month. To avoid a renewal, cancel or pause before your last paid period ends; the date is on the Billing page, or in Subscriptions on the App Store or Google Play.
If you contact Canva, include what went wrong, a copy of your invoice, and for Apple or Google purchases your order number or receipt ID. Refund questions are handled in a separate Canva help article.
My verdict on cancelling Canva
Before you cancel, check where you paid, because that decides everything. If you're only quiet for a few months, I'd pause rather than cancel, and if you're on Teams I'd think twice, because you can't come back to Teams later. Whatever you choose, wait for the confirmation email and keep it until the next billing date has passed without a charge.

Frequently asked questions
Does deleting the Canva app cancel my subscription?
No. For mobile subscriptions, uninstalling the app doesn't cancel your plan. Cancel through Google Play or the App Store.
Will I lose my designs if I cancel Canva Pro?
No. Canva says all your designs remain accessible on Canva Free after the billing period ends.
Can I end my Canva free trial early?
Yes, if you started it through Canva: go to Billing, select Get more, then Start subscription today. You'll be charged straight away and lose any trial days left. It isn't available for trials started through Apple or Google.
Why was I charged by Canva a day early?
Canva's billing runs on UTC, so depending on your time zone a charge can appear a day earlier than expected. Canva says this is normal.
