Canva's AI Logo Generator is a standalone page: type a text prompt, sign up or log in, and Canva turns it into a logo in a few seconds, which you can regenerate, download, save to your uploads or open in the editor. As of October 2026 you then fine-tune the colours with Color edit in the photo editor and resize it with Magic Resize.
The catch: owning a logo isn't the same as protecting it
This is the bit people skip. Canva's help page on its AI image apps says that, between you and Canva, you own the images you create as long as you follow its Terms, but that doesn't make you the copyright owner or give you exclusive rights (source: Canva Help Center). It also says how copyright treats AI work is an open question that varies by country.
The logo page itself points you to Canva's Terms and Acceptable Use Policy, and nothing in Canva's material promises you can register an AI-generated logo as a trademark. If a logo is going to carry your business for years, take advice before you rely on it. And because recognisable brands may be protected, never prompt for something that looks like another company's mark.
How to create a logo with Canva AI
- Open the AI Logo Generator page and type your prompt.
- Sign up or log in to your Canva account when asked.
- Pick a generation style, such as 3D Render, Illustration or Sketch (Color).
- Generate the logo. It takes a few seconds and you're notified when it's done.
- Not right? Tweak your words or the style and regenerate.
- Download the logo, save it to your Canva uploads, or open it in the editor to keep refining.
The logo page runs on the same pattern as Canva's other AI generator pages, so you may see 1 to 4 images per run, and the art style and aspect ratio dropdowns appear where they're available. Canva's advice on regenerating is to make your new prompt as detailed as possible first. For the full set of sister pages, see my map of Canva's AI generator pages.
From AI draft to usable logo
The AI gives you a starting point. These are the Canva tools that turn it into something you can use everywhere.
| Step | Canva tool | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Generate | AI Logo Generator | Turns your prompt and chosen style into logo options |
| Match your palette | Color edit in the photo editor | Selectively adjusts or swaps colours to keep the logo on-brand |
| Clean up | Magic Eraser | Removes unwanted distractions from the image |
| Cut it out | Background remover, or the Logo Background Remover page | Removes the background, for example for a transparent PNG |
| Fit every platform | Magic Resize | Resizes the logo for virtually any platform |
| Export | Download | JPG, PNG, PDF or PPTX |
Canva pitches the generator at entrepreneurs, content creators and designers, and for designers it frames it as a way to experiment and iterate on concepts with more creative control. Once you've opened a draft in the editor, you can also select it and click Ask Canva with a prompt like 'Suggest improvements to my design' for a second opinion.
Once the logo's final, add it to your brand kit so it's one click away in every design. My guide on making a brand kit in Canva shows you how, and my Canva resizing guide covers Magic Resize in more detail.
How to write a logo prompt that works
Canva's prompting guide gives the same advice for every design, and it fits logos well. Its point about allowance matters too: all premium AI tools share a single monthly allowance, so a clear prompt that works first time saves uses you'd otherwise spend regenerating.
- Name the design. Start with the design type, in this case a logo, and the business it's for.
- Say who it's for. Explain what the design should achieve and who'll see it, such as local customers or clients you're pitching.
- Describe the style. Canva's examples include clean and modern with blue, warm and friendly pink, or bold and eye-catching.
- Name the mood and colours. Words like bold, pastel or lively steer the result.
- Be as detailed as you can before you regenerate, rather than hitting regenerate and hoping.
Here's an example built on that structure:

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
Create a logo for a family bakery aimed at local customers. Warm and friendly style in soft pink and cream, a simple wheat icon, and the business name in a rounded font.
Limits and rules to know before you start
- You have to sign in or create a Canva account before Canva processes your prompt.
- Selecting Edit in Canva opens the editor in a new browser tab, and the generator stays open in the first one.
- Quick Tools on the Canva homepage, the other way into these pages, only works in the Canva desktop app and desktop browser.
- The usual AI limits apply, so on a free plan you may need to upgrade once you reach your AI usage limit.
- Canva says multi-layered safety measures block harmful or inappropriate content.

My verdict on Canva's AI logo generator
I'd use it to get unstuck. It's fast, it gives you styles you wouldn't have thought of, and the editing tools around it are good enough to turn a draft into something usable. Canva pictures the result on everything from business cards and flyers to company swag, so check yours at a tiny size as well as a big one before you commit. I wouldn't treat the first result as finished, and I wouldn't bet a brand on an AI logo without checking the legal side. If you'd rather build it by hand from a template, my guide to making a logo in Canva covers the manual route.
