Interactive Demo Software (2026): 10 Tools for Product Demos

Interactive demo software lets buyers click through your product on their own, from a website, email or sales call, without a live rep or a trial account. Most tools build demos from screen captures, while others clone the product into a sandbox, and many now add AI agents that answer questions inside the demo. Ten options follow in no particular order.

Buyers want to see a product before they talk to sales. A recorded video shows it, but an interactive demo lets them click, explore and come back to the parts they care about, while your team sees who viewed what and where they stopped.

This list covers tools for building those product demos. The ten below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. If you only need a quick walkthrough video, my guide to screen recording software may be all you need.

Interactive demo tools: capture or sandbox

I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means the page names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Storylane

Supademo

Best for: Small teams that want interactive demos, AI demo agents and step-by-step guides made in minutes, including sandbox demos with no real data at risk.

Walnut

Best for: Sellers who want to capture the product once, personalise and embed guided demos without engineering, then share them in an interactive deal room.

Interactive demos are merging into AI buyer enablement

Here's what struck me on the vendor pages. Walnut's page title now reads AI for Buyer Enablement, Interactive Demos and Deal Rooms, and Storylane's reads Demo Automation and Website Agent Software. Several others lead with AI agents that answer buyer questions inside the demo or qualify visitors before a rep gets involved.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

That's useful, but it means demo tools now overlap with deal rooms and website chat. Decide whether you want a demo builder or a wider buyer platform before you book vendor calls, or you'll end up comparing very different products.

If you only want a quick walkthrough rather than a full demo platform, our list of screen recorder Chrome extensions records straight from the browser.

Click-through capture demos or sandbox simulations

  • Capture-based demos. You record screens of your product and turn them into a guided, clickable tour. They're fast to build and easy to embed on a website or in an email.
  • Sandbox and simulation demos. A cloned, working copy of the product that prospects or reps can use freely without real accounts or real data. Better for complex products and live sales calls.
  • Live overlay. Prospect-specific data shown on top of your real application during a live demo.

Most teams start with capture demos for the website, then add sandboxes when deals get bigger and buyers want to try more.

Questions for an interactive demo vendor

  1. Build time. How long does a first demo take, and can a marketer build it without engineering?
  2. Updates. When your product interface changes, how much of the demo has to be rebuilt?
  3. Personalisation. Can reps swap in a prospect's logo, data or use case quickly?
  4. Analytics. Can you see who viewed the demo, which steps they finished and where they dropped off, and does it sync to your CRM?
  5. AI. Does an agent answer questions inside the demo, and can you control what it says?

My plain advice on choosing interactive demo software

Start with one demo on your website for your most common use case, built from captures. Watch where people drop off, fix it, and only then look at sandboxes, live overlays or AI agents. A short demo people finish beats a clever one they abandon.

And ask every vendor how demos stay current when your product changes. A demo that shows last quarter's interface does more harm than no demo at all.

Frequently asked questions

What is interactive demo software?

It's software for building clickable product demos that buyers can explore on their own, usually from screen captures, and embed on a website, in emails or in sales follow-ups.

What's the difference between an interactive demo and a sandbox demo?

An interactive demo is a guided tour built from captured screens. A sandbox demo is a working copy of the product that people can use freely without real data.

Do interactive demos replace free trials?

Not always. A demo shows the product's value quickly without a sign-up. A trial lets buyers use it with their own data. Many software companies offer both.

Who uses interactive demo software?

Product marketers for website demos, sales teams for personalised follow-ups and presales teams for complex evaluations. Some tools also serve onboarding and training.

Can AI create interactive demos?

Several tools now use AI to draft demo copy, personalise content and run agents that answer buyer questions inside the demo.
