Loyalty Program Software (2026): 10 Platforms by Store Size

Loyalty program software runs points, VIP tiers, rewards and referrals so repeat customers get a reason to come back, and tracks what that loyalty is worth. The tools split by platform and size: Shopify-first apps, retail and hospitality systems tied to the till, and enterprise engines for many markets. Ten options follow in no particular order.

Winning a second order is usually easier than finding a new customer, and a loyalty programme gives shoppers a reason to choose you again. Customers earn points for purchases, reviews or referrals, climb tiers, and redeem rewards, while you see which members come back and how often.

This list covers customer loyalty, not employee rewards or a general CRM. The ten platforms below are listed alphabetically and in no particular order, and every description comes from each vendor's own website, read as of Oct 2026. If keeping customers is the bigger goal, my piece on AI for customer retention covers what works beyond points.

Loyalty platforms by store type and size

I checked the free plan column on each vendor's own website, as of Oct 2026. Yes means the page names a free plan, a free version or an open source edition. Trial only means it names a time-limited free trial. Not stated means the page I read named neither, so check the vendor's own site before you sign up.

Gameball

Marsello

Best for: Retail and hospitality brands running branded loyalty and referrals across POS and ecommerce, with email and SMS campaigns built on loyalty data.

Rivo

Best for: Converting one-time Shopify buyers into repeat customers, with loyalty, personalised customer accounts and memberships.

Smile

Best for: Points, VIP tiers, referrals and Shopify POS loyalty for Shopify brands, with Klaviyo email and SMS plus a headless SDK.

Voucherify

Best for: Enterprises unifying coupons, promotions, gift cards, loyalty and referrals in one incentive engine, across markets and industries such as travel.

Yotpo

Best for: Ecommerce brands that want loyalty and referrals bundled with reviews and user-generated content from one vendor.

Loyalty is now sold bundled, and the market has split in two

Here's what the vendor pages show. Yotpo's title reads Loyalty, Reviews and AI Visibility for Ecommerce, and Stamped's reads Reviews and Loyalty for Ecommerce Brands. Loyalty rarely stands alone any more: it comes packaged with reviews, referrals, memberships or wider retention tools.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

The other split is by size. Smile, Rivo and Growave build first for Shopify brands, while Antavo and Voucherify target enterprises with many markets and brands. The Shopify apps and the enterprise platforms barely overlap, so decide which side you're on before you compare features.

Gift cards are the other half of the incentive picture for a small store, and our list of Shopify gift card apps compares the ones that work with Shopify.

Points, tiers, gamification or a full incentive engine

  • Points and rewards. The classic model: earn on purchases and actions, redeem for discounts, free shipping or free products.
  • VIP tiers. Status levels that bring perks such as early access, which reward your best customers without discounting for everyone.
  • Gamification. Streaks, badges, challenges and leaderboards that keep members active between purchases.
  • Incentive engines. Enterprise tools that run coupons, promotions, gift cards and loyalty from one rules engine across markets.

If you only run a Shopify store, you may not need a full platform, so see our list of Shopify loyalty apps for points and VIP tiers.

Questions to ask before you launch a rewards programme

  1. Platform. Does it plug straight into your store and, if you have shops, your POS?
  2. Channels. Can members see points in email, SMS and on every page of the site?
  3. Reviews and referrals. Do you want those from the same vendor, or do you already have tools?
  4. Measurement. Can it show repeat purchase rate and revenue from members compared with non-members?
  5. Languages and markets. Will it run in every country and language you sell in?

Reviews often come bundled with loyalty, so it's worth knowing that side too. My guide to review management software covers the tools that collect and respond to them.

My plain advice on loyalty program software

Start with your platform and your size. If you're on Shopify, a Shopify-first app will be quicker to launch and easier to run. If you sell across many markets or brands, look at the enterprise engines, because a simple points app will run out of road.

Then keep the first programme simple: one way to earn, one clear reward and a tier for your best customers. You can add gamification and referrals once you see who joins and who comes back.

Frequently asked questions

What is loyalty program software?

It's software that runs points, VIP tiers, rewards and referrals for repeat customers, and tracks how members behave compared with everyone else.

Do loyalty programmes work for small shops?

Yes. Several platforms on this list are built for Shopify and DTC brands and launch inside your existing store and POS.

What's the difference between loyalty and referral programmes?

Loyalty rewards existing customers for coming back. Referral programmes reward customers for bringing in new ones. Many platforms here offer both.

What is a gamified loyalty programme?

It adds game elements such as streaks, badges, challenges and leaderboards so members stay engaged between purchases.

Can I run loyalty in store and online?

Yes. Some platforms here connect to your POS and ecommerce store so customers earn and redeem points in both places.
