Google Workspace Business Plus: Is It Worth It Over Standard?

Google Workspace Business Plus is the top Business plan, and as of October 2026 the pricing page showed it at €21.10 per user per month on monthly billing, against €13.60 for Business Standard. The extra buys compliance and control rather than everyday features: Vault, eDiscovery, attendance tracking, 500-person meetings, 5 TB of pooled storage per user and advanced endpoint management.

Here's the catch. Most small businesses that need Plus need it for Vault, so they can retain, archive and search their data, or for attendance tracking in meetings. The jump from 2 TB to 5 TB is rarely the reason. Those prices are in euros, exactly as the page showed them, so check the figure in your own currency at sign-up.

Starter, Standard and Plus side by side

Prices exclude tax and may vary slightly because of rounding, as of October 2026. Enterprise sits above all three, and its plans take up to 1,000 people in a meeting. If you want every plan laid out together, this guide to Google Workspace pricing has the full breakdown.

What Business Plus adds over Standard

Google lists these as the extras you get by moving from Standard to Plus:

  • Vault, to retain, archive and search your data.
  • eDiscovery.
  • Meetings with attendance tracking.
  • Up to 500 participants in a meeting, up from 150.
  • 5 TB of pooled storage per user, up from 2 TB.
  • Secure LDAP.
  • Advanced endpoint management.
  • Enhanced security and management controls.

Read that list again and you'll notice it's an admin list, not a user list. Nobody on your team writes a better email on Plus. These features are for whoever has to keep records, prove who turned up, or control the devices people use for work.

What you already get on Standard

Before you pay for Plus, check whether Standard already covers you. Over Starter, Standard adds:

  • 2 TB of pooled storage per user.
  • Custom layouts and mail merge.
  • Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Meet and more.
  • Gemini Notebook with expanded access.
  • Meeting recording and noise cancellation, with up to 150 participants.
  • Appointment booking pages.
  • eSignature.
  • The Workspace Migrate tool.

Starter gives you 30 GB per user, 100 people in Meet, Gemini in Gmail and Vids. For most small teams, Standard is where the everyday features live, and Plus is where the record keeping and device control live. That split is the whole decision.

Two things people expect from Plus that Standard already brings. Google's list of Plus extras doesn't include any more Gemini features than Standard, so if AI is your reason to upgrade, Standard is the plan that brings it. And if you're moving in from another provider, the Workspace Migrate tool comes with Standard, so switching doesn't need Plus either.

Four questions that decide it

  1. Do you need to keep, archive or search company data for a set period, because a client, a contract or your industry demands it? If yes, Vault is your reason to buy Plus.
  2. Do you need a record of who attended a meeting, say for training sessions? Attendance tracking is a Plus feature, not a Standard one.
  3. Do your meetings go over 150 people? Standard stops at 150 and Plus goes to 500. If you run sessions for 1,000, Plus won't cover you either, and you're looking at Enterprise.
  4. Do you need to manage the laptops and phones people use for work, or connect apps through secure LDAP? Advanced endpoint management and secure LDAP are both on Plus.

If you answered no to all four, Standard is the plan I'd pick. If storage is your only reason, look at how much your team really uses first, because 2 TB of pooled storage per user on Standard goes a long way for a small business.

The 300-user cap and the launch offer small print

Starter, Standard and Plus can each be bought for a maximum of 300 users. Past that, Enterprise is the route, and it has no minimum or maximum.

The pricing page also showed a launch offer: half off for three months, from 11 November 2026 to 11 February 2027, which puts Plus at €10.55 per user per month in that window. The small print says it's for new customers and the first 20 users, and it states 12 months, so read it before you assume the discount covers your whole team.

My verdict on Business Plus

I'd buy Business Plus if you need Vault to retain and search your data, attendance tracking for training, or meetings bigger than 150 people. I'd skip it if the main attraction is the extra storage, because that's the weakest reason to pay the higher price. For most small businesses I'd start on Standard and move up the day a client contract or a regulator asks you to keep records. If you're still deciding between suites, my Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365 comparison is the next read.
