Meta Leads Center is a tool inside Meta Business Suite that collects and tracks your leads from lead ads, ads that click to message and organic Messenger and Instagram conversations in one place. You'll find it in the left menu of Business Suite, or under All tools and then Engage audience, and you should download your leads regularly because Meta only keeps lead information for 90 days.
If you run lead ads and you've been copying form answers into a spreadsheet by hand, Leads Center is the built-in alternative. Here's where the leads come from, how the pipeline works, who can see the data and the limits worth planning around.
Where to find Leads Center
- Go to Meta Business Suite on desktop.
- Click Leads Center in the left menu.
- If it isn't in the menu, click All tools and look under Engage audience.
- Choose Pipeline view to drag leads between stages, or Table view to see them as sortable rows.
Wondering what else sits in the same menu? This breakdown of Meta Business Suite covers the rest of the tools.
Where your leads come from
Meta adds leads to Leads Center automatically from these sources:
| Source | Added automatically? |
|---|---|
| Lead ads with instant forms, finished or unfinished | Yes |
| Lead ads that click to message | Yes |
| Ads that click to Messenger or Instagram Direct | Yes |
| Messenger or Instagram Direct chats you mark as a lead in Inbox | Yes |
| Appointment bookings where you show lead intent | Yes |
| Detected outcomes that pick up lead intent | Yes |
| Leads from anywhere else | Add them by hand or upload a CSV, XLS or XLSX file |
To pull a conversation in from Inbox, open the message, look at the contact card and click Mark as lead under Lead tracking. You can then manage that person from either Inbox or Leads Center.
What you can do with each lead
- Move them through stages. Every new lead starts as Intake. The default stages are Intake, Qualified, Converted, Lost and Not qualified, and you can create custom stages to match your own sales process.
- Message them. Leads from Messenger and Instagram, organic or from ads that click to message, can be answered from Leads Center itself.
- See their form answers. A Complete form label means you can read their instant form answers on the contact card.
- Assign an owner. Pick a team member from the Unassigned dropdown so everyone knows who's following up.
- Set a reminder. Schedule a reminder nudges the assigned owner to get back in touch.
- Label, note and filter. Filter by form, date added, source, owner or label, and search by campaign ID or ad ID.
- Build audiences. Turn your leads into custom audiences to re-engage them, or lookalike audiences to reach similar people.
The 90-day rule and other limits
This is the detail to plan around. Meta's help page says lead information is only available for 90 days from when someone submits their form, and older leads can't be downloaded. Meta's own advice is to download your leads regularly.
| Limit | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Leads expire after 90 days | Export on a schedule, or connect a CRM so leads leave Meta straight away |
| You need two kinds of access to see everything | Facebook Page admin permission plus a role on the ad account linked to the lead ad |
| Blank fields in a download | Usually a leads access permission problem, not missing data |
| Leads access is customised | New people, CRMs and partners must then be added manually |
Who can see and download your leads
By default, every Page admin and anyone with messaging permissions can download leads. Someone with full control of the business portfolio can switch on leads access to limit that to named people, CRM systems or partners. Once they start customising, anyone new has to be added by hand, which is worth knowing before you onboard a freelancer or agency.
Connecting a CRM instead
Meta recommends connecting a CRM so new leads arrive in one place without manual downloads. In Business Suite go to All tools, then Instant forms, open the CRM setup tab, search for your CRM and follow its connection steps. Some CRMs connect through Zapier. If you connect through an external website, you can't edit or disconnect it from Business Suite later, so you'd do that on the CRM provider's side. If you're still choosing one, I've compared CRMs that work well with Facebook lead ads.

My verdict
Leads Center is the simplest way for a small business to stop losing leads between a Facebook form and a follow-up. Use the stages, assign an owner and set reminders, because that's what turns a list of names into conversations. Then either connect a CRM or put a monthly export in your calendar, because anything older than 90 days is gone from Meta for good.
