The Snapchat Plus Family Plan lets the person who subscribes add 2 more people to their Snapchat+ subscription. Snapchat says every member can use Snapchat+ features and gets 250GB of Memories storage, and it's the only Snapchat+ plan that lets you add other people.
Snapchat calls it the Friends and Family Plan in the app, so despite the name, the people you add don't have to be relatives. They do have to be friends who aren't already subscribed to Snapchat+.
Below is how to set it up, how adding people works, the one switching rule that catches people out, and the cheaper way to let a friend try Snapchat+. It's all from Snapchat Support, read in October 2026.

How to set up a Snapchat+ Family Plan
Snapchat Support gives these steps, and they work whether you already pay for Snapchat+ or not:
- Open My Account in Snapchat.
- Tap the Snapchat+ banner card at the top.
- Choose the Friends and Family Plan option.
- Complete the purchase in the App Store or Google Play Store, where you'll see the price and renewal terms before you confirm.
- Restart Snapchat if the Snapchat+ features don't appear straight away.
If you're already a subscriber, you upgrade to this plan from the same screen. If you're new, you can choose it as your first Snapchat+ subscription.
How to add people to your Family Plan
As the account holder, you add members by going to the Manage Subscription page in Snapchat+ Settings. Snapchat says you can add up to two friends who aren't yet subscribed to Snapchat+.
That last condition matters. If a friend already has their own Snapchat+ subscription, they can't join yours until theirs has ended.
The switching catch
Snapchat repeats this warning on several help pages, so take it seriously. If you switch from a Family Plan to a different Snapchat+ plan, such as Platinum or Lens+, the members you've added lose access to their Snapchat+ subscription.
So before you upgrade yourself, tell the people on your plan, because their perks stop when you move.
What each member gets
Snapchat says each member on the Family Plan can use Snapchat+ features, and each gets the Memories storage included with the plan, which is 250GB. That's the same storage a standard individual Snapchat+ subscription typically includes, and far more than the 5GB Snapchat gives free.
The features are the usual Snapchat+ list, from #1 Best Friend and custom app icons to Story Rewatch, Story Timestamps and Streak Restore. Some of the subtler ones, like the half swipe, only work fully with a subscription.
What the Family Plan costs
Snapchat doesn't list one price for it. Its help pages say Snapchat+ pricing can vary by country and device, and you see the exact price and renewal terms in the App Store or Google Play before you confirm.
A cheaper way to let a friend try Snapchat+: Buddy Passes
If you only want a friend to try Snapchat+, you don't need a Family Plan. Snapchat says subscribers get three Buddy Passes on the first day of each billing cycle on a monthly plan, or the first day of each month on an annual plan. Each pass gives a friend Snapchat+ free for 7 days.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
- Go to your Snapchat+ management page.
- Tap Send Buddy Passes.
- Pick up to three friends who aren't already Snapchat+ subscribers.
- Send the passes.
Snapchat says everyone needs the latest app version for the pass to arrive, and its support team can't resend or replace a pass you sent by mistake.
Is the Family Plan right for a family with teens?
It's a subscription-sharing plan, not a safety tool. If you want to see who your teen talks to or set limits, Snapchat's Family Center is the feature for that, and I've explained it in Snapchat parental controls. You can use both, but one doesn't replace the other. To end the plan, cancel Snapchat Plus through your app store.
My verdict
If you and two friends all want Snapchat+, the Family Plan is the simple way to do it, and each of you gets 250GB of Memories storage. Check it's offered in your region first, because Snapchat says it's still rolling out. And never switch the main account to another plan without telling the others: Snapchat is clear that they lose access when you do. For a quick trial, send a Buddy Pass instead.
