The client limit catch
The number that matters most on FreshBooks isn't the price; it's the client cap. Lite lets you send invoices to 5 clients and Plus to 50. If you're a freelancer with a handful of regular clients, Lite works. If you've got a long tail of one off jobs, you'll hit the Lite limit fast and need Plus, which nearly doubles the monthly price.

It includes everything in Premium plus lower credit card transaction fees and capped bank transfer fees, multi line bill receipt capture, the option to remove FreshBooks branding from emails, data import through Easy Switch, dedicated phone support and 2 Team Member accounts at no extra charge. You'll need to talk to a consultant for a price.
Getting paid through FreshBooks
Every FreshBooks plan lets clients pay by credit or debit card, ACH bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Buy Now, Pay Later, straight from the invoice. The Advanced Payments add-on costs $20 a month on top, and Select customers get lower credit card fees and capped bank transfer fees. If most of your clients pay by card, it's worth asking about Select once your volume grows.
FreshBooks also groups its plans by type of business on the pricing page: freelancers, the self employed, businesses with contractors and businesses with employees. That's a useful shortcut, but the client cap is still the deciding line between Lite and Plus.
The promo and the refund guarantee
The current promotion applies to the first 4 months, and FreshBooks pairs it with free onboarding support. After those 4 months, you're on the regular monthly price.
