As of October 2026, ClickUp's Free Forever plan costs $0. Core is $9 per user a month billed yearly, Business is $17 per user a month billed yearly and Max is $100 per user a month billed yearly, with custom pricing for Enterprise. ClickUp shows regular prices of $12, $25 and $120 alongside those yearly rates.
ClickUp tries to replace several tools at once, which is why its pricing page is busier than most. The plan prices are only half the story. The other half is a rule that surprises a lot of teams: when you upgrade, you upgrade everyone in the workspace.

The whole-workspace rule
ClickUp's FAQ says that to upgrade ClickUp you need to upgrade your entire workspace, which means all members in it. You can't put two power users on Business and leave the rest of the team free.
For a small business this changes the budget completely. A team of eight on Business pays for eight seats, even if only two people use the advanced dashboards. Count every member of your workspace before you compare ClickUp with tools that let you mix paid and free seats.
What the Free Forever plan includes
- Unlimited tasks and subtasks, and unlimited free members.
- Collaborative docs, kanban boards and a calendar view.
- Sprint management and time tracking.
- SyncUps video calls and two-factor authentication.
- 60MB of storage, 5 Spaces and one form.
- Trials of features such as custom fields and Gantt charts.
The 60MB storage cap is the limit most people hit first. Attach a few client files and you'll feel it within weeks.
Core and Business compared
Core adds custom fields and task types, unlimited storage and Spaces, unlimited forms and Gantt charts, ClickUp Chat, 1K automations a month, goals, Google Drive, Dropbox and Box integrations, and live chat support.
Business is ClickUp's most popular plan. It adds advanced dashboards, webhooks and automation integrations, 10K automations a month, resource management, Google sign-on with SMS two-factor authentication, private views and docs, timesheets and time in status reports. ClickUp also lists unlimited standard AI models on Business, subject to its fair use policy.
Enterprise and Max
Enterprise is priced on request and adds white labelling, 1M automations a month, enterprise permissions, single sign-on with SCIM and SAML, audit logs, session management and connected search across Google Drive, OneDrive, Gmail, Microsoft Teams and Slack.
Max, at $100 per user a month billed yearly, includes everything in Enterprise plus ClickUp's full AI set: custom skills, a context engine with auto-memory, unlimited AI fields, notetaker, image generation and autopilot agents. It's built for teams that want AI running inside every workflow, not for most small businesses.
How to choose a ClickUp plan
- List everyone in your workspace, because you'll pay for all of them on a paid plan.
- Start on Free Forever and watch the storage meter.
- Move to Core when you need custom fields, unlimited storage or more automations.
- Choose Business if you rely on dashboards, timesheets or private docs for clients.
- Pay yearly to get the lower per-user price shown on ClickUp's page.

Is the free plan enough for a solo business?
For one person, often yes. Unlimited tasks, docs, a calendar and time tracking cover most of what a freelancer or consultant needs to run client work. The pinch points are storage, the single form and the 5 Spaces. If you keep your files in Google Drive or Dropbox and link to them rather than uploading, you can stay on Free for a long time.
The moment you bring on a team, the maths changes, because every member counts once you upgrade. That's why I'd run a real project in ClickUp with the whole team on Free for a few weeks before committing anyone to a paid plan, and only then decide which paid tier earns its place.
Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?
I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.
AI credits and automations explained
ClickUp's AI runs on credits, and the free plan's 500 credits are shared across the whole workspace, while paid plans give each user a monthly allowance that's pooled across the team. Automations are counted separately: 1K a month on Core, 10K on Business and 1M on Enterprise. If your team automates status changes and assignments heavily, the automation limit can matter more than AI.
My verdict
ClickUp's free plan is generous on members and weak on storage. For most small teams, Core at $9 per user a month billed yearly is enough, and Business at $17 makes sense once dashboards and timesheets drive your client reporting. Just remember the rule that matters most: every workspace member is a paid seat once you upgrade, so a cheap per-user price can turn into a big monthly bill for a larger team.
