Slack Pricing: Free, Pro, Business+ and Enterprise+ Explained

As of October 2026, Slack Pro costs $8.75 per user a month when paying monthly or $7.25 per user a month when paying annually, and Business+ costs $18 or $15. The Free plan is $0 forever, and Enterprise+ is priced by Slack's sales team. Prices are in US dollars.

Slack is where a lot of small teams, agencies and remote businesses do their daily talking. The free plan works for a while, but the moment you need older messages or calls with more than one person, you'll be looking at Pro. Here's what each plan costs and the billing rule that saves you cash.

Slack is also showing a half-price offer on Pro and Business+: $4.38 and $9 per user a month for 3 months when paying monthly.

The offer small print

That discount comes with conditions most people miss on the plan card. Slack's offer terms say you must buy Pro or Business+ online within the first 7 days of creating your team, the discount applies only for the first 3 months, and standard pricing applies after that. The terms also say the offer doesn't apply to annual plans or to upgrades to Enterprise+, and it can't be combined with other offers.

So if you're setting up a new workspace, decide quickly. Wait a week and the offer's gone.

What the free plan leaves out

  • 90 days of message history. Slack says messages are saved and searchable for 90 days on Free.
  • Up to 10 apps from the Slack App Directory.
  • 1:1 meetings only in huddles, with audio, video and screen sharing.
  • 1:1 external messages with people outside your company through Slack Connect.

Pro removes all four limits: unlimited message history, unlimited app integrations, group meetings and group external messages with up to 250 organisations. My guide on whether Slack is free goes deeper on where the free plan stops working.

Pro vs Business+

Both plans include unlimited history, apps and group huddles. The difference is AI and security. Slack lists Advanced AI on Business+, including its personal AI agent Slackbot, AI workflow generation, AI search, daily recaps and file summaries. Business+ also adds SAML-based single sign-on with 12 SSO options, including Okta, Google and Azure, and SCIM user management.

For a team of five that just needs to talk, Pro is plenty. Business+ makes sense when you want the AI search across your conversations and files, or when single sign-on is a requirement.

Fair billing: you only pay for active people

This is the detail I like most about Slack's pricing. Slack says members who take an action in Slack at any time within a 28-day period count as active for billing. If someone you've already paid for becomes inactive, Slack adds a prorated credit to your account for the unused time. That's useful for agencies with freelancers who come and go between projects.

How to pay and save

  1. Start on Free and invite your team.
  2. If the workspace is new, decide within 7 days whether to take the monthly launch offer.
  3. If you're settled on Slack for the year, compare the annual price: Pro drops from $8.75 to $7.25 per user a month.
  4. Pay by credit card on any plan. Slack says annual customers may be eligible to be invoiced and pay by ACH or wire transfer.
  5. Ask about discounts if you're a nonprofit or an educational institution. Slack says it offers special pricing to qualified organisations.

Enterprise+ in brief

Enterprise+ is priced through Slack's sales team, so there's no public figure. What Slack lists is the reason bigger organisations pay for it: enterprise search across connected apps, databases and systems, multiple SAML configurations, and Enterprise-grade AI. Slack also lists a Frontline teams add-on for Enterprise+, which gives field workers Slack for task management, agentic support and secure Salesforce access.

Work with me

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

For a small business, none of that is a reason to buy. It's useful to know only so you can see where Pro and Business+ stop.

Working out your own bill

Slack's prices are per user, so the plan price is only half the sum. Multiply the per-user figure by the number of people who'll be active in a typical month, then compare monthly against annual billing for that headcount. Remember that fair billing credits you for anyone who goes inactive, so seasonal staff or freelancers who drift away don't keep costing you. If your team size swings a lot, monthly billing on Pro keeps you flexible while you find your level.

My verdict

For most small businesses, Slack Pro paid annually at $7.25 per user a month is the right plan. It removes the 90-day history limit, which is the one that hurts, and fair billing means you won't pay for people who've gone quiet. Only move to Business+ if you need single sign-on or the full AI search, and grab the launch offer only if you're setting up a brand new workspace.
