CrowdStrike vs SentinelOne: Which Endpoint Security Fits?

CrowdStrike suits businesses that want one agent and one console across endpoint, identity, SIEM and IT automation, with Falcon Go as a starter package for smaller companies and a free trial. SentinelOne suits teams that need flexible deployment, because its Singularity Platform runs in SaaS, on-premises, hybrid and air-gapped environments, and it says it's been a Leader in Gartner's Endpoint Protection Magic Quadrant six years running. Both lead with agentic AI, so test them on your own alerts.

These two come up together on a lot of endpoint security shortlists, and their home pages now sound alike, full of agentic AI. I read CrowdStrike's home and Falcon platform pages and SentinelOne's home and Singularity Platform pages to separate them.

The deployment question that splits them

If any of your machines can't talk to the internet, read this first. SentinelOne says its endpoint security deploys in SaaS, on-premises, hybrid and air-gapped environments. That matters for manufacturers, labs, government suppliers and anyone running isolated networks. The CrowdStrike pages I read describe one agent and one console across security and IT, but they don't cover air-gapped deployment, so ask its sales team directly if that's a requirement for you.

Where CrowdStrike stands out

CrowdStrike calls Falcon a unified agentic security platform and describes its endpoint product as the leader in EPP and EDR. Beyond endpoints, it covers identity security for human, non-human and AI identities, data protection, a Next-Gen SIEM, Agentic SOAR and IT automation that unifies security and IT on one agent. Charlotte AI adds autonomous intelligence on top. For smaller companies, Falcon Go is an AI-powered antivirus package, Falcon Pro goes further, and there's a free trial.

The platform page also lists newer areas: securing AI agents across their lifecycle, supply chain security as coding agents pull in third-party packages, XIoT security for connected devices, and data pipeline management for its SIEM. That breadth suits a company that wants to consolidate several security tools with one vendor rather than stitch them together itself.

Where SentinelOne stands out

SentinelOne's Singularity Platform puts endpoint, identity, cloud and AI security in one AI-native platform, with Purple AI and agentic workflows handling triage, correlation and routine response. SentinelOne says Purple AI and its AI SIEM cut detection time by 63% and remediation time by 55%, and that it's been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection for six years in a row. Hyperautomation connects to any tool with an API and to on-premises systems.

What to ask in an endpoint security trial

  1. Can it run where all your devices live, including offline networks?
  2. How many alerts reach a human each day after tuning?
  3. What does the AI do on its own, and what needs approval?
  4. Does it cover identity attacks as well as malware?
  5. Who responds at 3am: your team, a partner or the vendor?

My advice on CrowdStrike or SentinelOne

For a small business that wants protection without a security team, look at CrowdStrike's Falcon Go first and use the free trial. For a company with isolated networks, on-premises requirements or a lean security team that wants AI doing first-line triage, put SentinelOne first. In both cases, ask for a proof of concept on a sample of your own machines and compare how many alerts each one sends you in a normal week. That number tells you what your team's life will look like.
