What Is Wishlink? How Indian Creators Earn From It

Wishlink is an Indian creator app that turns your Instagram and YouTube content into shoppable links. You connect your account, share product links from 250+ brands, and earn commission when followers buy. Commissions the brand confirms in a month are paid on the last day of that month.

If you've seen Indian fashion and beauty creators reply to comments with a product link in your DMs, there's a good chance it was Wishlink. It's become one of the main ways creators in India make money from organic posts, without waiting for a brand to pay them for a post. Here's how it works, based on what Wishlink itself says, and what to watch.

FeatureWhat Wishlink says it does
Brand linksShare product links from 250+ brands and earn commission on purchases
Wishlink EngageAuto-replies to comments and sends product links straight into followers' DMs
Wishlink ShopA personal storefront page collecting your recommendations
Product sourcingProcure trending products from 250+ brands at zero cost to make content
AnalyticsTracks earnings and your best-performing content
Creator Success TeamStrategy support for growing and monetising

The Engage feature is the clever bit. Instead of telling followers to check your link in bio, they comment a word and get the link in their inbox. That shortens the path from interest to purchase, which is where most affiliate sales are lost.

Getting started

  1. Download the app and complete the OTP sign-up to create your account.
  2. Connect your Instagram or YouTube account. Those are the two platforms Wishlink lists.
  3. Create your first post, add the product link, and share it.
  4. Set up Engage so comments trigger a DM with the link.
  5. Watch the dashboard to see which posts turn into orders.

How you get paid

This is the part to understand before you count your earnings. Wishlink says a month's payout includes the commissions the brand confirmed in that month, plus any rewards and referral earnings. Payments are processed on the last day of the month and land in your bank account shortly after.

Notice the word confirmed. A sale doesn't become payable when it happens; it becomes payable when the brand confirms it, which normally waits for the return window to pass. So a purchase in one month can be paid in a later month. Plan your cash flow around confirmations, not clicks.

What brands can and can't ask of you

Wishlink's FAQ says brands don't control your content: no deadlines and no content demands. That's a real difference from a paid collaboration, where the brand usually approves your post. With Wishlink links you choose what to feature and how. Wishlink also sends early alerts about upcoming sales and topical days, which is handy for planning posts around big shopping moments.

Is the free product sourcing worth it?

Wishlink says you can procure trending products from its brands for free to create content. That's useful when you're starting and can't buy everything you review. Two cautions from me. First, a free product doesn't oblige you to praise it, and your audience can tell when you do. Second, in India, products you keep from a business can have tax consequences; the rule is section 194R, which treats products you keep from a brand as a benefit once the year's total passes 20,000 rupees. Keep a simple note of what you received.

Many creators use both: Wishlink for everyday fashion and beauty links, and direct programmes for categories where they already have relationships. My explainer on which affiliate model suits you helps with that choice.

  • Show the product in use in the first seconds of a Reel; links convert when people already want the thing.
  • Use one clear comment keyword for Engage, and say it out loud in the video as well as the caption.
  • Group related items in your Wishlink Shop, so a follower who wants one outfit can buy the whole look.
  • Post around the sales Wishlink alerts you to; shoppers are already in the mood.
  • Check the dashboard weekly and make more of what sold, less of what didn't.

The creators who do well treat links as part of the content plan, not an afterthought added once the post is live.

Who it suits best

  • Fashion, beauty and lifestyle creators on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
  • Creators whose followers already ask where things are from in the comments.
  • Anyone who wants product links without a website or a link-in-bio tool.

It suits creators in niches without consumer products less, such as finance or education, because there's less to link to.

My verdict

Wishlink is a smart way for Indian creators to earn from posts they'd make anyway, and Engage removes the biggest friction in Instagram affiliate sales. Count only confirmed commissions, keep your recommendations honest, and track which content sells. If you're new to all this, start with my guide to how affiliate programmes work.
