The best data enrichment tools are the ones that fill the exact gaps your team needs filled, such as verified emails, phone numbers or company details, from sources you can explain if anyone asks. Some have free monthly allowances and others start with a handful of free credits. This page lists ten in no particular order, with the UK rules to check.
A CRM full of half-finished records is a quiet drag on every sales team. Reps waste mornings hunting for an email address, marketing can't segment by company size, and nobody trusts the data enough to act on it. Enrichment tools fill in the missing details, but they work in very different ways, from waterfall searches across many providers to APIs built for developers.
Here are ten enrichment tools in no particular order, sorted alphabetically, most of them from smaller specialist vendors. Each description comes from the tool's own website, re-checked today, and because several run on credits, the free plan column reflects what each vendor offers for first use. For ideas on what to do with cleaner data, my guide to B2B lead generation workflows has several worth borrowing.
Contact and company data tools compared
In the free plan column, Yes means the vendor shows a free allowance that renews, usually monthly, Trial only means a one-off batch of free credits or a free trial, and No means the site says there are no free credits.

What the ICO says about marketing to businesses
In the UK, the ICO's guidance on business-to-business marketing draws a line many sales teams miss. Under PECR, companies, limited liability partnerships, Scottish partnerships and some government bodies count as corporate subscribers, while sole traders and other kinds of partnership count as individual subscribers. The PECR rule on electronic mail marketing doesn't apply to corporate subscribers, but the UK GDPR still applies whenever you process personal data, such as the name of the person who represents the business.
The ICO also notes that the page is under review because of the Data (Use and Access) Act, so check it again before you rely on it. In practice, enrichment doesn't change the rules; it just adds more personal data to your records. Before you email a newly enriched list, flag which contacts are sole traders, keep a UK GDPR basis for holding each person's details, and make sure your privacy notice explains where the data came from.
Waterfall, platform or API?
- Waterfall tools check several data providers in turn until one returns a verified result.
- Sales platforms with enrichment put the data next to your outreach, so reps don't switch apps.
- Data APIs suit developers and AI-agent builders who want to enrich records inside their own systems.
- Lookup tools suit individuals who need a handful of contacts at a time.
Running an enrichment project in six steps
- Decide which fields you need: work email, phone, job title, company size or industry.
- Export a small sample of records, around a hundred, as a test.
- Run the sample through two or three tools on their free credits and compare match and verification results.
- Tag sole traders and other individuals separately from companies.
- Record your lawful basis and update your privacy notice.
- Only then enrich the full list, and set a date to refresh it.
Data enrichment habits that backfire
- Enriching everything. Only collect the fields you'll use.
- Trusting unverified emails. Bounces hurt your sender reputation.
- Forgetting the refresh. People change jobs, so records go stale.
- Mixing sources with no record. Note which tool supplied each field.
Once the data's in, keep it tidy, and my guide to keeping email lists clean explains why that matters for deliverability.
Do you make data enrichment tools or B2B data products? Tool makers can ask to be considered for a featured place on this list.
My plain advice on choosing an enrichment tool
If you're a freelancer or a small team, start with a tool that gives you a free monthly allowance and test it on your own records before committing. Sales teams running outbound every day will get more from a platform that keeps enrichment next to their sequences, and developers building their own systems should look at the data APIs.
Whatever you choose, test on a sample first and keep the ICO's distinction between companies and sole traders in mind. Better data should make your outreach more relevant and more careful, not just bigger.
Frequently asked questions
What is data enrichment?
It's adding missing details, such as work emails, phone numbers, job titles or company information, to the contact and company records you already hold.
What is waterfall enrichment?
It's a method that checks several data providers in turn until one returns a result, so you get more matches from a single tool.
Are there free data enrichment tools?
Some show a free monthly allowance of credits, others give a one-off batch of free credits to test, and at least one no longer offers free credits.
Can I email enriched B2B contacts in the UK?
The ICO says the PECR email rule doesn't apply to corporate subscribers, but sole traders count as individuals and the UK GDPR still applies to personal data.
How accurate is enriched data?
It varies by tool and region, so test a sample and check verification results before enriching a full list.
How often should I refresh enriched data?
Regularly. People change roles and companies, so set a schedule that matches how fast your market moves.
