Is Oh Polly Legit? Returns, Sale Items and US Orders (2026)

Oh Polly is a real online-only fashion brand run by founders Claire Henderson and Mike Branney, and US orders go through its separate US website. The catch is returns: its US policy says refunds need to be requested within 7 days of delivery, a return charge is deducted, sale items get store credit or exchange only, and pop-up sample sale purchases are final.

Oh Polly dresses turn up all over social media, so it's no surprise that people check whether the shop behind them is real before they hand over their card details. I think that's sensible, especially with occasion wear you may need by a certain date. I've read Oh Polly's own About Us, delivery and return policy pages, and this is what they say, with a focus on the questions a US shopper is likely to have.

Who is behind Oh Polly

According to Oh Polly's About Us page, the company was founded by Claire Henderson and Mike Branney. It describes itself as an online-only women's clothing brand that sells internationally, with products designed in-house rather than bought wholesale. That's useful context: you're dealing with a brand that designs and sells its own range, not a reseller of other labels.

The About Us page doesn't give a founding date, so I won't guess at one.

Ordering Oh Polly from the US

Here's a detail that catches out overseas shoppers. Oh Polly's delivery information page says it can only deliver to US addresses on its US website, us.ohpolly.com, where prices are shown in US dollars. If you're in the US and you're on the UK site, switch before you check out, because the UK and US versions have different returns terms.

Oh Polly returns for US orders

The US return policy is the page I'd read before buying anything, because it's stricter than many people expect. These are the points it makes:

  • Online orders must be returned for a refund within 7 days of delivery.
  • Exchanges are allowed within 14 days of delivery, extended to 28 days if you take store credit.
  • Refunds go to your original payment method, and store credit is sent as a gift card.
  • Returns are processed within 15 business days of receipt, provided there are no issues with the items.

Seven days is a short window for something you might be saving for a wedding or holiday, so try the item on as soon as it arrives.

Oh Polly return charges and the store credit bonus

Returning an order isn't free in the US. The policy says a charge is deducted from your return total, and the amount depends on what you choose:

US return optionCharge deducted
Refund12.99 US dollars (9.99 via Happy Returns)
Exchange12.99 US dollars (9.99 via Happy Returns)
Store credit2.99 US dollars

There's also a nudge towards store credit. Oh Polly says you get an extra 10% added to your credit, up to a maximum of 25 US dollars, if you opt in within 7 days of delivery. That's worth weighing up, but only if you're confident you'll shop there again. Credit you don't use is money you can't spend elsewhere.

What Oh Polly won't take back

The policy is firm on condition. Items must come back in their original condition, unworn and undamaged, free of makeup, pet hairs, deodorant and perfume, with original tags attached and hygiene stickers intact. Swimwear is returnable if the hygiene stickers remain intact.

It also lists items that can't be returned at all, including nipple covers, briefs and thongs from intimates, socks, tights, face masks, eye masks, headbands, ear muffs, headscarves, hair accessories, fitness equipment, Halloween accessories and water bottles.

Sale items and sample sales at Oh Polly

Two lines in the US policy are easy to miss. Sale items are eligible for store credit or exchange only, so you can't get a cash refund on them. And pop-up or sample sale purchases are final. If you're tempted by a discount, treat it as a decision you can't undo.

Oh Polly in the UK: a different set of rules

If you're shopping on the UK site, the terms differ. Oh Polly's UK pages say cash refunds and exchanges are 14 days from delivery and store credit is 28 days, and that a first-order UK return is free within 7 days of delivery if you keep at least one item. Don't assume the same terms apply on both sites, because they don't.

Checking you're on the real Oh Polly site

Fashion brands that go viral attract copycat shops. Use the web address from the brand's own social accounts or type it yourself, check that the US store is on us.ohpolly.com, and be wary of any shop that insists on bank transfer or gift cards. If you're curious about how the same kind of authenticity question works for second-hand designer goods, my guide to whether Fashionphile is legit covers it.

Is Oh Polly worth buying from?

Oh Polly is a real brand with written policies you can read before you order. The question is whether the terms suit you. If you know your size, you're happy with a short refund window and you don't mind a return charge, it can work well. If you tend to change your mind, are buying for a fixed date, or want a cash refund on sale items, you may prefer a shop with longer, free returns.
