Is Fashion Nova Legit? Returns, Reviews and Safe Ordering (2026)

Fashion Nova is a real fast-fashion retailer founded in 2006 and based in Los Angeles, with its own return policy and customer service. The catch is its record and its rules: the FTC settled with it in 2022 over blocked negative reviews, returns come back as store credit, and many items are final sale.

Fashion Nova turns up everywhere, from Instagram feeds to celebrity tags, so it's no surprise people search for it before they buy. The question is usually the same: will the clothes arrive, and what happens if they don't fit? I've checked what the brand's own pages, Wikipedia and the FTC say, so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

Who is behind Fashion Nova

According to Wikipedia, Fashion Nova was founded in 2006 by Richard Saghian, who is also its CEO. It's headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and mostly operates online, though it also has five brick-and-mortar stores. That's a named founder and a real operating business, not a pop-up shop that vanishes after one order.

Wikipedia also notes that the brand leans heavily on social media, particularly Instagram, where models and other people are given payment or free clothing to promote it. That's worth keeping in mind when you see a glowing post. It tells you what the brand wants you to see, not how the clothes behave after a wash.

What the FTC said about Fashion Nova's reviews

This is the part I'd read before you trust the star ratings on any shopping site. The FTC says Fashion Nova's review system automatically posted four and five star reviews but held lower-rated reviews for approval. From 2015 until 2019, it says, the company never approved or posted hundreds of thousands of lower-rated reviews.

In 2022 the company settled. It agreed to pay 4.2 million dollars, was barred from misrepresenting customer reviews, and must now post all reviews of the products it currently sells, with limited exceptions. The Commission voted 4-0 to accept the agreement. The FTC described it as its first case about hiding negative reviews.

An earlier FTC case matters too. The FTC says that in 2020 Fashion Nova agreed to pay 9.3 million dollars over delayed shipments and the use of gift cards instead of refunds. Both cases are in the past and ended in settlements, but they tell you why I'd check delivery and returns terms carefully before ordering.

Fashion Nova returns: what the policy page says

Fashion Nova's return page is where the practical answers sit. It says you have 30 days from the date of delivery to return an item, and that damaged, defective or incorrect items must be reported within 14 days of delivery.

  • Refunds come as store credit in the form of a Fashion Nova gift card.
  • Returns are processed within 5-7 business days after the warehouse receives them.
  • Exchanges aren't offered. You return the item and place a new order.
  • Online orders can't be returned in a store.
  • Items must be unworn and unwashed with the original tags attached.

That store credit rule is the one that catches people out. If you order something you might not wear, a retailer that gives credit rather than a refund to your card is a different kind of risk.

Final sale items on Fashion Nova

The return page says final sale items can't be returned. It lists bodysuits, swimwear, undergarments, beauty products, cosmetics, accessories and party wear. The page also flags items by their price endings, so check the product page for a final sale label before you add anything to your bag.

Older support articles on the Fashion Nova help site give slightly different details, so I'd treat the current return page as the one to follow and screenshot the terms at checkout.

Ordering from Fashion Nova safely

Most problems with online fashion shops come down to the same few habits. A few simple ones protect you:

Want AI doing the heavy lifting in your marketing?

I build the systems that handle the boring 80 percent, so you get your week back. Done properly, with the human kept in.

  1. Buy from the brand's own website or app, typed in yourself.
  2. Pay at the checkout page, using a credit card if you have one, because the FTC says cards give you more protection.
  3. Screenshot the product page, the size guide and the return terms.
  4. Keep your tracking number and proof of postage when you send anything back, since the page says the company isn't liable for returns lost or stolen in transit.
  5. Read recent reviews on independent sites as well as the brand's own.

Fake Fashion Nova sites and offers

Big names attract copycats. Be wary of social media ads offering an unbelievable discount, a site with a slightly different web address, or a message saying you've won a gift card. If a seller asks you to pay by bank transfer, gift card or cryptocurrency, walk away. Real retailers take payment at their own checkout.

If something goes wrong, contact your card provider first and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. And if clothes are your own side hustle, my guides on whether Depop is legit and selling on Vinted cover the resale side.

Is Fashion Nova legit?

Yes, it's a real company that sells clothes and has published return rules. It's also a brand with a documented FTC history, so I'd trust the policy page over the star ratings, order with a card and only buy what you're happy to keep or return for credit. I'm not a lawyer, so check the terms for your own order.
